To Whom It May Concern:

The purpose of this letter is to serve as a recommendation for Ms. Melissa Nye. I had the
pleasure of serving as Melissa’s instructor for several courses during her time at Pitt-
Bradford. In every case, I found that Melissa to be an extremely conscientious student. She
attended classes regularly and, from the very beginning, was a valued and vibrant addition
to each course. Melissa enthusiastically contributed to class discussions and activities
always bringing interesting and thoughtful comments into the conversations. Melissa was
consistently one of the top performing students in all her coursework.
Perhaps even more importantly was how Melissa approached field experiences, an integral
part of each course, with great enthusiasm. Her reflections on the experiences were always
very well done and not only showed her ability to self-reflect, but also a true interest in the
art of teaching and a love of working with children.
In addition to being an outstanding student, Melissa was also a student athlete. Many
students can struggle with juggling the responsibilities of schoolwork with the time
involved in practice and games. Although I’m sure she felt the strain of that challenge at
times, Melissa never once allowed her participation in sports interfere with her goal of
becoming a teacher.
Furthermore, Melissa undertook the challenge of serving as the president of the Education
Club for two years. Prior to her taking over the club, it was struggling to survive. Melissa
spearheaded several events and activities that not only brought life back into the club but
also provided some wonderful university-community collaborations for the children in the
area.
I truly believe Melissa would be an excellent addition to any school. She is a responsible,
considerate, well-spoken, and highly motivated individual; therefore, I can recommend her
without any hesitation. If I can be of any further assistance, please feel free to contact me.
