Fumigation of Aseptic Area

Process Flow Diagram:

Ensure that all spaces which to be fumigated are cleaned and disinfected as per SOP
Clean up of Aseptic Area

Take the required quantity of 40% commercial formalin (as mentioned in the table) in
S. S vessel for each room

Add distilled water (25% of the volume of formalin) to make stock solution for
fumigation

Keep the SS vessels containing stock solution on the electric heater

Let the fumigation be started by switching ON the electric heater and switching OFF
when the stock solution is completely evaporated

Let it be exposed at least 06 hours

Keep the fumigation activities record in the FUMIGATION RECORD form

Lock the aseptic area. & Hang the notice that areas are fumigated

Exhaust the fume after 06 hours of fumigation started time

EQUIPMENTS AND DISINFECTANTS:

b. Measuring Cylinder
c. SS Vessel
d. 40 % formaldehyde solution.

TIME OF FUMIGATION:
After cleaning of aseptic area

PREPARATION OF FUMIGATION SOLUTION:

Prescription: Use formaldehyde at the rate of 2.5-mg/ liter volume space. [1litre  0.03531466 cft]

Take the required quantity of 40 % formalin according to the prescription and add 25 % distilled water to make the stock
solution.

Note. Double quantity of formaldehyde will be used weekly

Calculation:
40 % commercial formalin i.e., 100ml contains 40gm of formaldehyde.
According to prescription 1 litre or 0.03531466 cft require 2.5 mg of formaldehyde.
