Teachers Eligibility Test
Hereafter referred as Faculty Aptitude Test (FATE)

IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS
1. Candidate may fill application form on-line through website https://aktu.ac.in/
2. This Examination is open only to the candidates who have passed the qualifying
examination subject to the eligibility conditions given in this Information Brochure.
3. The submission of on-line application form through website can be made from 1st May,
2017 to 27th May, 2017.
4. Candidates are advised to read carefully this information brochure, check their
eligibility and applicable reservation category etc. before filling and submitting the
application.
5. There is no age limit for candidates seeking to appear in this examination.
6. Accepting admission in any institution implies acceptance by the candidate and his/her
parents or guardians agrees with all the provisions given in the Brochure. Any change
in the rules, regulations, fee and special conditions etc. of that institution shall mutandis
apply to the admitted candidate.
7. Candidates who are due to appear for the qualifying examination or have appeared, but
results are awaited, are also eligible to appear in the examination. However, the
candidates in respect of whom, the result of the qualifying examination has not been
declared till the date of the counselling due to any reason whatsoever, shall not be
eligible for admission under any circumstances.
8. The result of said examination declared by Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical
University, U.P., Lucknow shall be final. However, the candidate can get his/her answer
sheets scrutinized on payment of Rs. 5000/- per paper within seven days of declaration
of result. The application for scrutiny may be submitted to the Dean, Post Graduate
Studies & Research, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University, U.P., Lucknow -
226021 in writing.
9. If any document/declaration submitted by the candidate is found to be false at any stage,
his/her admission shall be cancelled and he/she may be liable for prosecution under the
law. In case of any legal dispute, the jurisdiction will be limited to Lucknow courts
only.
10. The candidate must himself/ herself ensure about his/her eligibility to appear in the
Examination. If a candidate, who is not eligible to appear in the examination, does so;
he/ she will not have any claim whatsoever, for admission to any of the programme.
11. The allotment of seat through counselling/interview will be carried out strictly on the
basis of merit of the candidate, subject to the order of preference given for the seats and
availability of seat in the category. Once the seat is allotted to the candidate, no change
in the Institution / Branch is admissible.
12. The fee paid at the time of counselling by the candidate after the allotment of seat will
be forfeited and will not be refunded under any circumstances, if the candidate does not
report for the admission to the allotted institutions.
13. All information in connection with the Examination shall be made through university
website https://aktu.ac.in/ The candidates are advised to refer to this website
regularly/frequently, failing which AKTU, Lucknow will not be responsible for any
loss due to the lack of communication.
14. In case of any deficiency in application form, it is likely to be rejected and
sole responsibility of its consequences will lie on the candidate and representation in
this regard shall not be entertained.

FATE - Faculty Aptitude Test

1. PREAMBLE
The entrance examination for admission to P.G. programs, M. Tech./M. Arch./ M. Pharm.
offered by the various institutes affiliated to Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical
University, U.P., Lucknow, Ph.D. programs and Teacher Eligibility Test (i.e. FATE)
shall be supervised and controlled by the Academic Council of AKTU under the
Chairmanship of the Vice Chancellor. The Council has absolute rights for conducting as
well as taking decision about modalities of admissions and allotment of seats. The
jurisdiction of Council extends to colleges / institutes affiliated to AKTU, Lucknow. The
Council is authorised to take every decision regarding conduct and admissions through
the above entrance examination for 2017.

2. MODE OF ADMISSION
As per decision of Academic Council of AKTU and the committee constituted for
finalizing modalities of the admissions to Post Graduate (M.Tech./M.Pharm./M.Arch.),
Ph.D. programs and Faculty Aptitude Test (FATE), the mode of admission will be as
follows:

a. Admission to P.G. (M.Tech./M.Pharm./M.Arch.) Programs, (Paper-I)

There shall be entrance test for admissions to P.G. (M.Tech./M.Pharm./M.Arch.)


programs offered by the various affiliated institutes of the University for the session
2017-18. The domain Knowledge Test for such admissions will be of GATE/GPAT level.
The candidates seeking admissions to above programme shall have to appear in a multiple
choice objective nature written test.

The domain Knowledge Test shall be conducted subject wise on the various areas (Table-
1) for P.G. (M.Tech./M.Pharm./M.Arch.) admission.

i. All candidates seeking admission to PG Programme


(M.Tech./M.Pharm./M.Arch.) have to appear necessarily in subject domain test
(Paper-I) as prescribed, subject to their eligibility. The paper will be of two-
hour duration with 75 multiple choice questions to be answered by the
candidate.

ii. The domain knowledge test shall be conducted on the above domain subjects
(Paper-I). The candidates have to appear in the Paper-I subject to their
eligibility criterion (Table-1).

iii. The final admission of the candidates shall be done on the basis counselling as
per their combined merit of the written test. However, such candidates who are
GATE/GPAT qualified and have the valid score card, need not to appear in
the written test. They can directly appear in the counselling process for
admission. Counselling schedule will be intimated later through the University
website.

iv. The candidates with valid GATE/GPAT score shall be admitted on


preferential basis over the candidates through the written test.

v. Eligible candidates with M. Sc. qualifying degree will be considered for


admission in selected programs after GATE / B.Tech. qualified candidates.

b. Admission to Ph.D. programme (Paper- I & Paper-II)

There shall be a multiple choice objective nature test for such candidates who are
seeking admission to the Ph.D. Programme of the University. Such candidates will have
to appear in the Paper – I for their domain knowledge test of various disciplines/subject
areas (Table-2).

i. The syllabi for Paper-I shall be GATE/GPAT/NET/CAT and on the


respective subject domains. The paper shall be of three-hour duration and
shall contain 100 multiple choice type questions from the subject area.

ii. Beside this, all Ph.D. applicants will also required to appear in the Aptitude Test
(PAPER-II), in addition to Paper-I. The contents of the Aptitude Test (PAPER-
II) will have the thrust on testing the skills of Data Interpretations, Language
Proficiency, Reasoning and Logic design, Research Aptitude, etc. Paper-II shall
contain 75 questions.

iii. The final admission of the qualified candidates shall be done on the basis of
interview and as per their ranks on the combined assessment of Paper-I &
Paper-II. Interview schedule will be intimated later through the University
website.

c. Faculty Aptitude Test (FATE) (Paper I & Paper II)

In pursuit of quality check in the Technical /Professional education, the role of faculty
is vital in nurturing the budding engineers/professionals of AKTU, Lucknow the
University shall conduct a written test of Multiple Choice Objective nature for
recruitment of Assistant Professor in the private affiliated Institutions/Colleges of
AKTU, Lucknow. The University shall provide pool of such qualified candidates on its

website in order to enable institutions of AKTU, Lucknow to select such quality faculty
as an Assistant Professor in their institutions.

The candidates seeking their career as an Assistant Professor in the private affiliated
institutions of AKTU shall have to appear in both Paper-I & Paper–II as prescribed
in the subjects and as per their eligibility (Table-3).

The institutions will be advised to invite applications from the pool of FATE qualified
candidates hosted on the website prior to final selection through interview to their
respective institutions. The University shall promote such FATE qualified candidates,
if selected by the institutions as an Assistant Professor in the routine Academic/
Administrative assignments of the University & some financial assistance may also be
granted such as for participation in Seminars /Conferences & other incentives/logistics
as decided by the university from time to time.

i. The syllabi for Paper-I shall be GATE/GPAT/NET/CAT and on the


respective subject domains. The paper shall be of three-hour duration and shall
contain 100 multiple choice type questions from the subject area.

ii. Beside this, all FATE applicants are also required to appear in the Aptitude Test
(PAPER-II), in addition to Paper-I. The contents of the Aptitude Test (PAPER-
II) will have the thrust on testing the skills of Data Interpretations, Language
Proficiency, Reasoning and Logic design, Research Aptitude, Teaching
Aptitude, Higher/Technical Educational Awareness Systems, Moral &Ethics/
Human Values etc. Paper-II shall contain 100 questions.

iii. The final merit of the qualified candidates shall be made on the basis of the
combined assessment of both Paper-I and Paper-II.

Important notes –

(a) The candidates seeking admission to Ph.D. program and/or FATE exam will have to
appear in both Paper-I & Paper-II.

(b) The candidates applying for more than one of type test such as Ph.D. and/or FATE shall
have to submit the separate applications with the additional fees as prescribed.

(c) Incomplete application form in any respect, will be liable to be rejected & the fees
submitted will not be refundable.

All aforesaid tests are likely to be conducted on 11th June 2017. The advertisement with details
of prescribed fees, Test centres and other details is being published in on the website and online
applications shall be invited from 1st May 2017.

3. SUBJECTS AND ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
3.1 Admission to P.G. Programs

The candidate must ensure minimum eligibility conditions of their admission/selection


to the respective courses as prescribed by the Academic Council of the University. The
minimum eligibility conditions for admissions to postgraduate programs
(M.Tech./M.Pharm./M.Arch.) is listed in Table 1.

3.2 Admission to Ph.D. Programs

The candidate must ensure minimum eligibility conditions of their admission/selection

3.3 Faculty Aptitude Test (FATE)

The candidate must ensure minimum eligibility conditions of their respective subjects
as prescribed. The minimum eligibility conditions for FATE are listed in Table 3.

3.4 Reservation Policy

As prescribed by the Govt. of Uttar Pradesh from time to time.

3.5 Examination Fee

As per the decision of the university the application fee for each of above (i) P.G. admission
test (ii) Ph.D. admission test (iii) Faculty Aptitude Test (FATE) for recruitment to the post
of Assistant Professor is prescribed as following:

(a) For GEN/OBC candidates - Rs. 2000/-

(b) For SC/ST/Female /Physically handicapped candidates - Rs.1000/-

The candidates applying for more than one programme shall, however, have to choose both
the options and submit the consolidated fee.

4. EXAMINATION DETAILS
The multiple choice type examination for admission to P.G. (M.Tech./M. Pharm./M. Arch.)
programmes shall be conducted Online / OMR pattern at the specified centres as prescribed
by the University.

4.1 Scoring and Negative Marking

a. All objective type questions are required to be answered against the respective
question number. Candidate is supposed to select only one choice for correct answer
in each question.

b. Every objective multiple type question would carry four marks for each correct
answer. More than one answers indicated against the question will be deemed as
incorrect answer and no marks is awarded for the incorrect answer.

c. Negative Marking—there will be negative marking in the evaluation of above pattern


of examination as following –

4 marks will be awarded for each correct answer and 1 mark will be deducted for
each wrong answer, however no marks shall be deducted for un-attempted
questions.

Tie Break—In case of equal marks secured by the candidates, the tie will be broken on
the basis of number of wrong questions attempted (more wrongs less ranking) then by
seniority.

4.2 City of Examination

The written test for all the programs (Paper-I & Paper-II) is proposed to be conducted
at following cities simultaneously (May vary depending upon the number of applicants
for a city).

Agra, Bareilly, Gautam Buddh Nagar (Noida/Greater Noida), Gorakhpur, Kanpur,


Lucknow, Varanasi.

4.3 Schedule of Examination

The examination will be conducted on 11th June 2017. The time duration prescribed for
candidates seeking admission to P.G., Ph.D. program and/or candidates appearing for
faculty eligibility test (FATE) are listed in the Table 4.

5. ADMIT CARD

Admit card will be available online to every candidate. Downloaded admit card shall
be treated as valid admit card. The candidates are advised to check the details of admit
cards with regards to their category, gender, Name, Father's Name etc. as mentioned on
the Admit Card. In case of any discrepancy, the candidate may report to the examination
centre superintendent for such correction on the day of examination.

Important:

Since successful candidates are required to produce the Admit Card at the time of
counselling and admission, it should be carefully preserved until the admission
process is completed.
