PHILIPPINE GOVERNMENT ANNOUNCES ENTIRE LUZON TO BE UNDER

ENHANCED COMMUNITY QUARANTINE.

On March 17, 2020, the Philippine government announced a month long enhanced
community quarantine in entire Luzon. This means that all classes in all levels are
suspended until April 14,2020 along with religious gatherings. Public transportations are
also suspended except for those who will provide transport for the medical workers,
police officers, army and public officials. Transportation for foreigners in the country will
only be allowed 72 hours after the said announcement.
The government suggests work from home to all the private sectors. Businesses who
provide basic necessities such as food, water, medicine are allowed to be open. Banks,
electrical and water companies and hospitals will also remain open during the said
quarantine. Manufacturing factories and delivery services would also remain available.
For every household, only 1 member would be allowed to go out and buy the basic
necessities for the household. Every person is required to stay at home.
The government also appealed to the employers for them to advance the 13-month pay
of the workers or give them even half of their monthly salary to make up for the lose of
income in the month duration of the enhanced community quarantine.
Anyone who violates the rules given for the enhanced community quarantine will be
dealt accordingly by the LGUs.
