On the 27th of January 2017, President Donald Trump signed the first version, Muslim ban 1.

0 and it
became effective on that day. As a result, it sparked a huge rebellion and uproar among the citizens
of the United States of America. Within the same day, thousands of people flocked the airports to
protest against the issue. Before we go further into this international issue, we have to first find out,
What is defined as a Muslim Ban? It is an Executive Order 13769, titled protecting the Nation from
Foreign Terrorist Entry into the United States or also known as a “travel ban”. In other words, it is a
total and complete shutdown of Muslims from entering the United States only for the sole reason of
the fact that they are Muslims. Why has it lead to an uprising among the citizens in the United
States? The effects of a muslim ban go far beyond travel restrictions. It is in fact a form of national
discrimination towards Muslims in general which is a great injustice. This is due to the fact that
“terrorism has no nationality or religion” a quote by Vladimir Putin the current President of Russia. If
we relate the quote, in the context of the Muslim Ban we can decipher that, The Muslim Ban is a
form of prejudice and racism by the president of the United States against Muslims since he was the
one who ordered it. Fortunately, later on the executive order 13769 took effect only up until March
16, 2017 however different versions of the ban have also been proposed by President Donald Trump
but were immediately blocked by federal courts, which found each iteration to be blatantly anti-
muslim, unconstitutional and an abuse of the president’s power.During the time of which the
Muslim ban process took place, more than 700 travellers were detained, and up to 60000 visas were
provisionally revoked all throughout the United States of America. For a better explanation of the
issue here’s a summary of what Executive Order 13769 entails:

 Suspends the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program for 120 days*

 Restricts admission of citizens from seven countries for 90 days*
 Orders list of countries for entry restrictions after 90 days
 Suspends admission of Syrian refugees indefinitely
 Prioritizes refugee claims by individuals from minority religions on the basis of religious-
based persecution
 Expedites a biometric tracking system
 Other provisions

What are the impacts of the Muslim ban? It has indefinitely separated families, disrupted
educational and academic pursuits, kept individuals from life-saving medical treatment, harmed the
U.S. and world economies, stigmatized migrants and stoked the flames of hate towards muslims.
Due to the proclamation, Homeland Security has suspended the issuance of the vast majority of
visas of individuals from these countries which are Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Yemen,
North Korea and Venezuela which stops them from entering into the United States of America.

To begin with, from the political issue that I’ve chosen to write an essay about, the first political
concept that I can relate to the main issue is power. What can be defined as power? It can be
defined as the right/ responsibility/ capability/ability or the capacity of an individual or group of
individuals to alter, modify, change or control the conduct or behaviour of other individuals in the
manner that the person desire. Therefore, in other words this individual or group of individuals are
free to do whatever they want as they please without having to ask permission from others. In the
context of the political issue that I’ve chosen, as an evidence to support my argument, It is proven
Donald Trump as he is the current President of The United States of America, that he has the power
to make amendments or alterations in regards to the immigration regulations for the citizens in the
United States of America or this act of his can also be referred to as immigration reform. He was the
individual who firstly proposed the idea of the Muslim ban as well as the Executive Order 13769
considering.

From an Islamic perspective, Islam teaches its adherence or followers on the value of religious
tolerance. Religious tolerance technically means accepting the differences of others whether in
religion, race or another or to allow others to practice their various religious belief or faith freely
without prejudice or judgment. Religious tolerance also means recognising the existence of other
religious doctrine and being able to live together and co-exist with people who practice a different
religion from us in the same place and space. To ensure the philosophy of tolerance really takes
place and is carried out in the right way, Islam has highlighted some fundamental principles and first
off is the freedom of belief.Since the relevation from Allah S.W.T. has been sent down to mankind in
the form of a scripture called Al- Quran and through explanation, clarification and repetition done
by the prophet Muhammad S.A.W. which whom has clearly distinguished between the path of
guidance from the path of misguidance it is one’s own discretion to choose his own path.Which is
why, under no condition should an individual be forced to accept a belief or faith against his own
will.Moving on to the next principle of religious tolerance which is, The Right to worship.Islam
promises the protection and security of humans regardless of their religious belief to be able to
worship according to their religion. The guarantee of safety and protection also includes their houses
of worship as well such as churches, temples, sinnagouds and so on due to their sacredness and
holiness. Furthermore, the equality of mankind is also another important principle that Islam

Continuing on, the next political concept that I can relate this issue to is in terms of International
