Section 16 / No. 143

CLEANING

 Wash your hands frequently

 Use a barrier cream whenever possible

 Use suitable protective gloves

 Do not overfill disposable bags, they cannot be closed at the neck and may burst because of bulk or
weight.

 Do not put your hands into rubbish or soiled linen bags. Handle with care. Follow the colour
coding.

 Ensure that broken glass and ‘sharps’ are placed in the special containers provided and NEVER in
ordinary refuse sacks.

 Always wear protective clothing provided, particularly rubber gloves.

 Jewellery should not be worn as it provides a breeding ground for bacteria and could become
entangled in equipment.

 Long hair should be tied back, as loose hair is often found to be a source of contamination.

 Wear flat covered shoes. Avoid sandals, slippers, sling backs, flip flops and platform shoes.
