Three sounds of suffix ‘ed’

We know that letters have sounds. Some are voiced which means on sounding these letters, there is
a vibration felt in the throat, while others are unvoiced.

Say the sounds of the letters to understand better.

We have learnt in the previous years that we add ‘ed’ to words to show an action
that is completed in the time before now.

We also know the spelling rules for making words with prefix ‘ed’

However, it is tricky to pronounce the words with the ‘ed’ sound in the end.

This is because suffix ‘ed’ makes three sounds .

/t/,/d/ and /id/

We can decide the sound of ‘ed’ in words by following these simple rules.
