Articles in Spanish

The article modifies the noun it escorts, that is it

says something about it.
 In Spanish since the nouns have gender, the
articles reflect or have to match the gender of the
word it escorts.
 In Spanish number counts so the articles have
to be in accord with the singular of plural of the
noun.

In English the articles are: “the”, “a” or “an”.

In Spanish “the” becomes:

(singular) (plural)
(male) el los
(female) la las
In Spanish “a” or “an” becomes:
(singular) (plural)
(male) un unos
(female) una unas

*note: the word “uno” is translation of the word one; it is

also a pronoun when used to replace the noun.
- Juan es un alumno del grupo.
- Él es uno del grupo.
