Dear Future First Grader!!

Welcome to First Grade! I am so excited that the school year is starting soon and that I get to be
your teacher and I get to have YOU as a student all year long!! 😊
A little bit about me: My name is Ms. Kelly Johanson and I just graduated college from Dakota
State University with a degree in elementary education and ready to start teaching! 😊 I am
originally from the small town, Flandreau, South Dakota. I have two brothers, two sisters, and
nine nieces and nephews, so I have a pretty big family! I also have a dog named, Rory. I am so
excited to learn about you, learn your interests, and create a positive relationship throughout
the year. In our classroom we will create positive relationships with one another and a safe
environment to learn in. We will be doing lots of hands on activities with manipulatives and
technology to help us learn.
A few of my favorites: Spending time with family, my dog, Rory, Dallas Cowboys, basketball,
being outdoors, cooking, hanging out with friends, colors red and purple, chocolate (Reese’s
Peanut Butter Cups), and lots and lots of coffee 😊
Once again, I am so excited I get to have you as my student and to be able to see you be
successful in and out of the classroom. I can’t wait to get to know you and make this school
year as awesome as possible! Wednesday, August 21st can’t come soon enough!!
