This is a wild, fun, and free way to celebrate Earth Day!

Upcycle trash into beautiful

flowers, while also practicing measurement.

1. Collect paper scraps (trash) over the course of several days. Each day, whatever
collected is tossed into one big bag.
2. On the big day, APRIL 22, design your dream flower, using a piece of paper and
colored pencils. What would you like your unique, individual flowers to look like? What
pieces are the best for your flower vision?.
3. Build your flowers, minus the stem. Cut petals, draw on designs, embellish.
4. Once flowers are created, randomly choose a stem length, try standard
measurement and maybe metric. Create a stem of that length for each flower, using a
ruler to measure and double check the measurement. Try sizes your family members
think of.
If you could name your flower what would that be? How much attention does it need? If
it was real would it need more or less light?

Have fun cooperatively creating a paper garden. Please take plenty of pictures
and share them with your class teacher. Who knows what flowers will bloom on Weebly.
