User’s Guide Chapter 1: General 2
Salwico SE3000

Chapter 1: General
In your hand you now have a small hand hold test device for Salwico Fire
Alarm Systems, the SE3000. With SE3000 you may execute two different
tests, a loop test and a loop unit test. Before you make a test connect the test
probes to the loop, the SE3000 thereafter checks the loop to see if it is under
power. If this is not the case SE3000 connects itself to the loop and starts
testing.

If the loop is under power an error message is displayed and the SE3000 does
not connect itself to the loop.

The loop test automatically boots the complete loop and searches all addresses
on the loop. All the information found about the addresses are saved in a list,
which you can print out or scroll through on the display.

The loop unit test searches for the manually requested address and
immediately displays all information found about the unit.

Chapter 2: Functions
Power time-out
SE3000 is shut down 3 minutes after the last key is pressed or the last test is
executed.

Powered loop
SE3000 can not execute a test on a loop if it is under power. Therefore
SE3000 always starts with a check of the loop to see if it is under power. The
test is not executed if this is the case. An error message is displayed and it
remains displayed until the error has disappeared.

Short-circuit loop
The communication test is interrupted when SE3000 detects a short-circuit
and an error message is displayed. The error message remains displayed until
the next communication test is executed.

Battery and power supply supervision

The battery and power supply of the test device are continuously supervised.
An error message is displayed when the battery passes a not acceptable power
level.

Loop test
When a loop test is performed SE3000 starts at address 1 and searches the
complete loop for all the loop units and their IDs. If a loop unit does not
answer SE3000 tries to recommunicate with it several times.

Each time the test device detects a short-circuit isolator it restarts the loop test
from address 1. The loop test continues until all short circuit isolators have
been activated. If a short circuit is caused by the activation of a short circuit
isolator SE3000 can keep track of all answering addresses by using this
method. An error message is displayed.

When the loop test is finished you may look at a list or a printout including all
the answering loop units and their IDs. You may at any time interrupt the loop
test by pressing the EXIT key (F4).

Loop unit test

The loop unit test searches the loop for the specified loop unit. The address
must be in the interval 0 - 255. When it has found the loop unit, it first tries to
get answer from the loop unit. Thereafter it asks for the loop unit ID and it
also checks the address, since each loop unit must have a unique address.
Instead of displaying the ID number SE3000 displays the name of the loop
unit type. A short circuit isolator may be manually activated and its real status
is then displayed in the menu, active or not active. The LED of an answering
unit is flashing.

SE3000 continuously supervise the loop for short circuits.

Chapter 3: Menus
General
The SE3000 has two main menus, one for loop test and one for loop unit test.
You select the appropriate menu by pressing MORE (F4) repeatedly. All
messages are displayed on line one and each message remains displayed until
the error is not present in the system anymore. If there are more than one error
message the SE3000 alternatively displays each error message for 2 seconds.

Power on
At power the program name and version are displayed on line 1 for SE3000 1.00
a few seconds.

Battery
The remaining capacity of the battery is displayed in percent. (In 60%
this example the capacity is 60% of full capacity.) This message is
alternatively displayed with the error message.

The remaining charging time is displayed if an adapter is BATTERY CHARGE 2H

connected to the SE3000. In this example the battery will be fully
charged in 2 hours.

Error messages
The loop is already under power. LOOP IS POWERED

The battery voltage is to low. Charge the battery. LOW BATTERY

The battery voltage is to low. Charge the battery. No tests can be BATTERY DISCHARGED
started and the keys are locked.

This message is displayed the last 30 seconds before the SE3000 is POWER TIMEOUT 24
running out of power.

moment. If a unit is answering, an asterix (*) is displayed after the
address. CHECKING LOOP 123*

All information about the answering units is put in a list. The ADDR:2 1(5)
information about the first unit is displayed. The first unit in the
list in this example is ADDR 2 (address 2), type RDJ-2. 1(5) RDJ-2

Wrong address
SE3000 tests for wrong addresses after it has searched the loop ADDR:255 5(5)
and all short-circuit isolators have been activated. The wrong
addresses are address 0 and 151 - 255. If a wrong address is found WRONG ADDRESS
it is displayed. - + PRINT OK
