Intradermal injection

Intradermal injection is a type of injection that does not go under the dermis and is usually used for
vaccination. This type of injection also helps to find out if you have allergies. This examination is done
through a sensitivity test to allergens when diagnosing diseases such as tuberculosis and brucellosis.

Performing this procedure requires a syringe of a maximum of 1 milliliter, a slow release drug and a
short needle up to 1.5 centimeters. In intradermal injection, the area of skin selected is not an area that
is prone to injury or infection (for example in deltoid). Stretch the skin with the thumb and forefinger,
slowly insert the needle about 2 mm below and almost parallel to the surface of the skin. A pale lump
that shows the surface of the hair follicles on the skin where the injection is given is the mark given
correctly.
