Cell phones are becoming to today's youth what rock and roll was to the youth in the 1960's.

Approximately 80% of all teenagers have cell phones worldwide, and have developed their own
language and social groups away from the prying eyes of their parents.

Academics:

Children, just like the teens, are addicted to mobile phones. They play games, chat and talk to
their friends on their mobile phone all the time. Along with the school supplies, many students
make their daily trips to their school with their mobile phones. They talk on the phone during the
free time and send messages during the classes. Thus, they miss the lesson taught and fall behind
the other students

Inappropriate Behavior:

Use of cell phones can lead children to engage in inappropriate behaviors. Texting and sending
inappropriate pictures is a growing problem with teens. The images go in the wrong hands,
giving others access to the private photos. Children can also access pornographic sites from their
multimedia devices.

Malpractice In Exams:

Most of the students indulge in exam malpractices and cheating during the internal and external
examinations. Some make use of calculator while other store information in it. Some also use it
to send objective answers to those in the examination hall. It can end the student’s career if
caught.

Heightened Level of Danger

Records reveal that texting while driving has already caused millions of deaths from traffic
accidents each year. Included in this number are teenagers, who are contributing to an insane
amount of accidents due to mobile devices

Sleep Loss:

Most of the teens keep their cell phones nearby while sleeping to respond to texts and calls. They
feel pressurized to remain reachable around the clock. It leads to sleep interruption and
disruption. Teens also become irritable when they are sleep deprived.

Increases Anxiety:

Relying on texting as a primary mode of communication can increase anxiety in teens. Texting is
instantly gratifying, but it also produces anxiety. The instant reply by the friend can bring joy and
elation. But in case of delayed response or no response, this same pleasure turns into
disappointment.
Cyber Bullying:

, Nearly one-third of the teens are victims of cyber bullying. And almost half of the victims do
not know the identity of the perpetrators.

Increases Risk Of Eye Vision Problems

Staring at your mobile device can cause problems in your vision later in life. Screens on mobile
devices tend to be smaller than computer screens, which means you are more likely to squint and
strain your eyes while reading messages.

10) Dedication to work

Whenever we sit down to work, the luring applications on our mobile phones like WhatsApp,
Facebook, Instagram etc. distract our mind. We think checking the applications won’t take more
than 10 minutes, whereas it takes away a lot of time. And this leaves you with less amount of
time for your work. And the work which is not done with full attention and dedication never
gives satisfactory and desired results.

Skin allergies and infections

The first thing that grabs the attention of the people while looking at a mobile phone is its
look/appearance. And to make the mobile phone look more attractive, a layer of metallic sheen is
added. The metallic layer contains nickel, chromium and cobalt which are known as skin
allergens and cause cell phone dermatitis.

Non-Malignant Tumors:

The study has shown that children who use mobile phones have a possibility of developing non-
malignant tumor in the brain and ear.

Cancer:

Research shows that electromagnetic radiation emitted by mobile phones get absorbed in the
tissues when we hold the phone for longer times. The nervous systems of teens are still
developing and have a greater risk of developing brain cancer from cell phones than adults.

Effects on the Brain:

Scientists have discovered that just 2 minutes of the phone call can alter the electoral activity of
the kid’s brain for up to an hour. The radio waves from the mobile penetrate deep into the brain,
not just around the ear. The disturbed brain activity could impair children’s learning ability and
other behavioral problems. It could even affect their mood and ability to learn in the classroom if
they have used the phone during the break time.
