Content: 6th Grade Science

Topic: Layers of the Earth

Activity: Students will create a foldable of the layers of the Earth.


This will allow students with this intelligence to get a visual
representation of the layers of the earth and their characteristics.

Materials: Construction paper, scissors, glue, blank sheet


with layers of earth, color pencils/markers, and pencils.
Linguistic-Verbal
Content: 6th Grade Science

Topic: Layers of the Earth

Activity: Students will write a story in which they will


pretend to travel to the center of the Earth. They should
describe what they see and how the surface feels as
they go through each layer. This activity is for linguistic-verbal
learners, because it involves writing stories and using
words and description.

Materials: Notebook paper, class notes, and a good imagination 😊


Interpersonal
Content: 6th Grade Science

Topic: Layers of the Earth

Activity: This activity will involve the Kagan strategy Mix-Pair-Share.


The students will get out of their seats, and walk around the room
until the music stops. Then, students will pair up and answer the
question the teacher asks about layers of the Earth.

Materials: Music and students


Musical
Content: 6th Grade Science

Topic: Layers of the Earth

Activity: Students will listen and sing along to


a song about the layers of the earth. This will help
students who learn best by music because this
activity involves rhythm and song.

Materials: Video and students


Naturalistic
Content: 6th Grade Science

Topic: Layers of the Earth

Activity: Students will go outside and draw a diagram of the


layers of the earth and label it with chalk.
This will help Naturalistic learners since they learn best
in an outdoor environment.

Logical-Mathematical
Content: 6th Grade Science

Topic: Layers of the Earth

Activity: Students will get a card sort and they will


try to match the characteristics and the locations
of the layers of the Earth with the right layers.
This activity is perfect for logical-mathematical
learners since they learn best through categorizing.

Bodily-Kinesthetic
Content: 6th Grade Science

Topic: Layers of the Earth

Activity: Students will create a model of the structure of


the earth with playdough. This will help bodily-kinesthetic
learners because this activity is hands-on.

Materials: Signs with names of layers and students


Intrapersonal
Content: 6th Grade Science

Topic: Layers of the Earth

Activity: Students will read a short passage on the


layers of the Earth, answer questions on it, and
write a paragraph explaining what they learned
from the article. This is intrapersonal since the
students will be reflecting on what they learned.
