This is Ricky. He is a naughty boy. He likes to throw rubbish everywhere.

One day, a prefect on duty


saw Ricky throwing the rubbish. He warned Ricky. But Ricky did not listen. The prefect reported to the teacher.

The teacher called Ricky. He punished Ricky. He asked Ricky to carry all the wastepaper baskets
from the classrooms for one week. The teacher asked Ricky to throw the rubbish into the recycle bins. He sent
Ricky to the headmaster.

Ricky regretted and apologised to the headmaster. He promised not to litter again. Ricky is a good
boy now.

Amal was walking at the park, one sunny afternoon. Suddenly he saw smoke coming out from his
neighbour’s house. He noticed that his neighbour was trying to save his belongings.
He was worried and immediately grabbed his mobile phone and called the fire station. He then
informed what had happened to the headman. The headman then gathered all the villagers and they quickly
helped their neighbour.
A few minutes later, a fire engine arrived. They started to put out the fire. They managed to save
the house from the fire. Amal’s neighbour thanked everyone for helping him. He praised Amal for his quick
action. Amal felt proud of himself. It was an unforgettable day for him.

During the school holidays, Atan and his family visited his grandparents in Terengganu. They went
by car early in the morning. They reached the village in the evening.

His grandparents were waiting for them at the house. It was near the beach. Atan was very excited
to see the sea. His father planned for many activities.

The next morning, they went to the beach. They saw a big turtle laying eggs. There were many
eggs. It was a big turtle. They snapped photographs of the turtle. It was a nice experience. Atan was as happy
as a king.

Last Monday evening, Zaki lied to his mother. He should be at school on that evening for his extra class
but he skipped it. He went for fishing at the river near his village. He brought his fishing rod and some baits of
worm.

He waited there for big fish until 7.00 p.m. Unluckily, there were no fishes caught by him. He was very
angry. He spent too much time but he got nothing.

Without any longer, he went home. After his mother knew about it, he was scolded by her. He was
regretted and promised not to repeat again.

Last week, Nora celebrated her birthday at her house. She invited all her friends and relatives to her
house.
Nora and her father decorated their house. They hanged the balloons and ribbons. Her mother baked a
big cake. She also cooked many delicious dishes. Many friends came to her birthday party. They brought many
presents. Nora blew the candles on her birthday cake. After that, they played many games.
The party ended at 6 p.m. Nora felt happy because she got many presents from her friends. Nora and
her parents cleaned their house. Although Nora was tired, she felt happy.

Last night, Aiman was studying for his examination. Suddenly, he heard some noises from his
neighbour’s house.
He peeped through the window. He saw a burglar. The burglar was wearing a mask and he wanted to
break into his neighbour’s house. Aiman quickly informed his parents about the incident. His father, Mr Azman
called the police station and reported the incident.
A few minutes later, a few policemen arrived at the scene. They managed to catch the burglar. Aiman’s
neighbour was grateful and praised him for his responsibility.
Our school’s Environment Club organized a recycling campaign last week. We had to collect old
newspapers or magazines, plastic bottles and glass bottles. We searched for these items in our
neighbourhood.

We gathered all the recyclable items in the school hall. After a week, a truck came and the driver
weighed them. Then, his assistant gave us some money for the items.

After one month, we had collected a lot of money from this campaign. We gave the money to the
headmaster. He bought new benches for us to sit during recess.

Last Saturday, Lily had a bad toothache so her mother took her to see the dentist. At the dental clinic,
Lily saw a few patients with tooth problems waiting for their turn.

Soon, it was Lily’s turn. After examining her teeth, the dentist extracted her bad tooth gently. Then, he
placed a piece of cotton in her mouth to stop excessive bleeding.

After Lily went home, she felt weak and dizzy. She could not eat neither rice nor noodles. Her mother
prepared some porridge for her. It was an unforgettable experience for her.

Last Sunday morning, Mei Ling went to a shopping complex with her mother. They were buying new
clothes for the coming Chinese New Year. Mei Ling chose a dress while her mother chose a cheongsam.

There was a long queue at the counter. A lady who was standing in front did her payment with a credit
card. There was a problem with the machine. The cashier tried many times but the machine could not accept
the card.

The other customers were impatient. The lady paid cash and apologized to the cashier and the other
customers.

Uncle Harun is a farmer. He has a land. He grows vegetables and rears animals. Every morning, after
breakfast, Uncle Harun rides his motorcycle to his farm. He waters his vegetables and feeds the animals.
In the afternoon, he always helps his wife at the stall. His wife sells food and drinks. The villagers love
to buy his food because it is delicious.
On weekends, Uncle Harun brings his vegetables to the market. He sells his vegetables to the
customers. They love Uncle Harun’s vegetables because they are fresh and the price is also reasonable.

Rahim is my friend. He lives in Kampung Indah with his family. He is a hardworking and active boy. He
likes sports. He always takes part in the athletic events. He always wins many gold medals during Sports Day
at his school.
Last week, Rahim took part in the athletic events. He took part in the 100 metres and 200 metres race.
He practised hard and won two gold medals for the district.
Next month, he will represent his district in the state level competition. His coach, Mr. Arumugam will
train him at the stadium. Rahim hopes to win the gold medal in the competition. He wants his coach to be
happy and proud of his achievement.

One evening, my mother asked me to go to the grocery near our house. She wanted me to buy some
potatoes and a kilo of flour. So I took my bicycle and rode to the shop.
Uncle Tan, the shopkeeper, greeted me. After paying for the items, I cycled home. On my way, I heard
the sound of a cat. As it was quite dark, I could not see very well. I searched for the cat and then I found it in a
drain. It looked weak and hungry.
I took the cat home and showed it to my mother. My mother noticed blood on the cat’s leg. She bathed
the cat and gave it some milk. My mother praised me for doing the right thing in bringing the cat home.

One day, Hakim’s house caught fire. The firefighters worked hard to put out the fire. Unfortunately,
Hakim’s bedroom was burnt in the fire. He lost most of his clothes, books and other stuff.
Chong Wei decided to help his friend. He collected his used clothes and old books. At school, he
collected some donations from his classmates.

The next day, Chong Wei and his parents visited Hakim and his family. They brought along all the stuff
and donations. Hakim and his parents thanked them for their kindness.

Last week, there was a book exhibition at Popular Bookshop in the shopping mall. Mina and her aunt
went there to buy some books. Suddenly, Mina saw a little girl crying bitterly.

Mina’s aunt immediately approached to the girl. The girl told her that she was lost. Mina’s aunt quickly
took her to the information counter. The lady at the counter made a quick announcement to notify her parents.

Ten minutes later, the girl’s parents came. The girl ran as fast lightning to her parents. She felt
delighted. Her parents thanked them. After buying a few books, Mina and her aunt went home happily.

Kamal and Andy went to the park yesterday morning. They wanted to fly kites. They were having fun
flying their kites when suddenly the wind blew so hard that their kites got tangled together.

Kamal tugged hard on the string to untangle it but the string broke. They watched helplessly as Kamal’s
kite flew away.

As they walked home, Andy offered to make him a new kite. Kamal was touched and he thanked Andy.
The boys rushed to Andy’s house so they could start making a new kite.

Gavin’s table was messy so he decided to clear it. He put all the books on the shelf above it. Then, he
wiped the table.

After that, he went to the kitchen for a drink. As he was talking to his mother, he heard a loud crash.
Gavin and his mother rushed to his room. They found that the shelf had broken and had knocked his computer
monitor off the table.

Gavin was upset. He realized that he had put too many things on the shelf. He apologised to his
mother. She told him to be more careful in the future.

The festival was drawing near. Fitri went to buy some firecrackers. His parents had warned him that it
was illegal to buy and play with firecrackers. However, Fitri ignored their warning. He just wanted to have
some fun.

While Fitri was playing happily with the firecrackers in a field near his house, one of them suddenly
blew up in his hand. He screamed in pain and his hand was bleeding.

His father rushed him to a doctor. The doctor treated the wound and bandaged Fitri’s hand. Fitri was
very regretted for his action and he promised that he would never play firecrackers again.

It was a holiday. Mala and her friend, Lina, went jogging along the beach near their housing area. They
saw an ice cream seller and they decided to buy some ice cream.

There was also a man who bought the ice cream.. As the girls were enjoying their ice cream, they saw
the man’s wallet fall out of his back pocket.

Immediately, Mala picked up the wallet and called out to the man. She returned the wallet to the man
and he was happy with the girl’s kindness. Mala and Lina were also glad as they had done a good deed.
Jerry and his family spent several days at Lake Garden. One morning, they went on a boat ride in the
lake. Jerry saw several people paddling about in smaller boats and he wanted to do it too.

His father rented one when they returned to the jetty. They rowed out to the middle of the lake. When
they were tired, they returned to the jetty.

They climbed out of the boat but forgot to tie it to the jetty. Luckily, the man at the jetty managed to
grab the boat before it could float away. Jerry and his father quickly apologised for being careless.

David is an athlete. Last week, his school held its sports day at the stadium. The headmaster, Mr Singh,
opened the event by cutting the ribbons. Everyone was as happy as a lark.

David took part in the 100-metre race. He ran very fast and beat the other athletes. He was as happy
as a king.

David won the race. He broke the school record. His parents and teachers were very proud of David. He
received a trophy from the headmaster. David thanked the headmaster.

Munir is a captain of a yacht. He took a group of tourists on a sunset cruise. Munir advised them to sit
and relax during the leisurely cruise.

Suddenly, Munir heard a scream. He ran to the side of the yacht and saw a tourist struggling in the
water. He was wearing a life jacket so he stayed afloat.

Munir threw a rope into the water and the man grabbed it. Then, Munir pulled the rope until the man
was closed enough to the yacht. With the help of the other tourists, Munir pulled the man into the yacht.
Everyone was relieved.

The river in Kampung Aman was clogged with rubbish. The community decided to take action. They
organised a clean-up event to save the river.

A few of the villagers rowed a boat to the middle of the river and used long poles to push rubbish to the
bank. The rubbish included empty containers, plastic pails and even broken furniture like tables and chairs.

There were other villagers on the bank to drag away with the rubbish. They worked hard to their best to
clean the river. The river flowed freely after that. All the villagers were very happy and thanked each other for
their good effort.

Last week, SJK Hua Kwong Welfare Club held a charity drive to raise money for the earthquake victims
of Sabah.

On Monday, the club members washed the teachers’ cars and charged RM10 for each car. On Tuesday,
they went to shopping complexes to ask for donations. On Wednesday and Thursday, they sold cakes and
cookies at the canteen. On Friday, the club members, together with the Singing Club, put up a mini concert.
They charged teachers and pupils a fee of RM5.

By the end of the week, the Welfare Club had raised RM5000. The members of the Welfare Club felt
motivated with the amount collected.

Robert and Danny are lazy boys. They always get into trouble together. One day, their teacher was
teaching in the classroom. The boys were sleepy. They fell asleep on the table. They were snoring loudly.

Their teacher noticed the boys sleeping. He was very angry. He woke them up and the boys were
shocked. All their friends laughed loudly. The teacher sent them to the headmaster.

The headmaster scolded Robert and Danny. They apologised to the headmaster. Both of them
promised to be good boys in future.
One day, Arjan and his father took a train to visit his grandparents in Malacca. The train coach was
almost full but Arjan and his father managed to get a seat.
When the train stopped at the next station, a pregnant lady boarded the train. She looked around but
could not find a seat. Arjan quickly stood up and offered her his seat. The lady gave Arjan a grateful smile.
When they reached Malacca, Arjan’s father patted his back and praised him. Then, he bought Arjan an
ice cream as a reward for his good deed.

Last Friday evening, John and his friends were playing football at the school field. John was passing the
ball when another player accidentally knocked him from behind. John lost his balance and fell down.

He twisted his right ankle and bruised his knees. His friends quickly rushed to help him up. John limped
on one leg while his friends supported him. His teacher took him to the clinic. One of his friends contacted his
parents.

At the clinic, the doctor treated John’s injuries. He put a plaster on John’s knees and bandaged his
ankle. The doctor advised John to rest at home for a week

Last week, there was a fire drill at Catalina’s school. Catalina and her friends were having their Science
lesson when the school bell rang continuously.

Their teacher immediately told them to stay calm. They were told to queue up outside their class. No
pupils were allowed to along their belongings. All the pupils followed the instructions and assembled in the
field.

Many pupils from other classes already gathered there. Their headmistress, Madam Lai praised them
for doing well in the fire drill and introduced a few firefighters from Marudi. The firefighters briefed the pupils
on what to do in case of fire.

Last weekend, the Year Six pupils of SJK Hua Kwong visited an old folk’s home. They went there by bus.
They arrived there at around nine o’clock in the morning. They brought many gifts and new clothes for the old
folks.

The pupils decided to clean the home first. They painted the wall, rearranged the furniture and tidied
the rooms. At noon, they had lunch with the old folks. After that, the pupils dance and sang some songs to
entertain them. They also gave the gifts that they brought to the old folks.

It was time to go home. The pupils hugged them and promised to visit them again in the next school
holiday.

Benny and Samuel are best friends. They have known each other since Year One. They always do their
revision and homework together. Both of them love to play basketball near their houses.

Last month, Benny and his family went for a holiday to Cameron Highlands. He bought a souvenir for
Samuel. Samual loves it very much. He thanked Benny for remembering him.

Yesterday, Benny forgot to bring his pocket money to buy food. Samuel knew about it. He decided to
share his lunch with Benny.

Wei Nie is a librarian. Last week she was on duty in the library. When she was busy arranging books on
the bookshelf, she heard some strange noises.

She walked towards the noises. She was shocked when she saw two boys were tearing up some books.
They were also scribbling on the books. Wei Nie stopped them immediately. She decided to bring the boys to
see the teacher in charge.

Mr Ho, the librarian teacher warned them not to do it again. As a punishment, the boys had to clean the
library for two weeks and pay for the damages they made.
Hakimi is a very hardworking boy. He likes to do different things to earn extra money although his
parents give him pocket money every week.

He collects bottles, empty cans and old newspapers from his neighbours. Then, he sends the recyclable
items to the nearest recycling factory. The manager of the factory paid him some money for the items.

Hakimi does not spend the money. He keeps the money in the bank and let it earn interest. His parents
are proud of him because he knows how to manage his money wisely.

I live in a housing estate in Taman Tunku, surrounded by Chinese, Malay and Indian neighbours. They
are friendly and often invite us to festival dinners and parties.

Some of my classmates live nearby and we are close friends. We often meet for a chat in the evening
or go for a walk. I enjoy their company very much. Sometimes we fly kites or play football in the field nearby.
Occasionally, my mother visits the neighbours next door and I go along with her to meet my friends.

It is good to know our neighbours as they can help us if an emergency arises and keep us company
when we are lonely. I really appreciate my friendly, helpful and kind neighbours.

Mrs Nathan teaches her children to save water and electricity. She shows them their water and
electricity bills. She advises them not to be wasteful so that they can save more money.

The children obey their mother. They start treasure the facilities they enjoy. They always switch off the
fans and lights whenever they leave the room. They also turn off the water tap when they brush their teeth.

Meanwhile, they do not use hose to water their garden anymore. They now use watering cans. They
also turn off the television when nobody is watching it. Mrs Nathan is very proud of her children.

Sharon is making a thank-you note for her mother. She prepares several pieces of coloured paper, a
pair of scissors, a tube of glue, a box of coloured pencils and glitter dust.

First, she cuts the coloured paper into heart-shaped patterns. Next, she folds another coloured paper
into two and writes the word ‘Thank You’ using glue. Then, she scatters some glitter dust on the words. The
dust will stick on the words written using glue.

After that, she pastes the heart-shaped patterns on the card. Finally, she writes her message in the
card before giving to her mother.

What we do every day has effects on global warming. We can reduce global warming at home and
in school.

At home, there are a few things that we can do to reduce global warming. We can use energy-
saving appliances and switch off electrical appliances when we are not using them. We should not wash a
few pieces of clothes at a time.

In school, we should throw rubbish in the correct bins and turn off the taps when we are not using
water. We should inform parents to turn off the car engines when they wait for us outside the school.

Danny took part in a squash competition last week. He was very disappointed and unhappy when
he lost his match. His parents advised him not to give up.
Danny listened to his parents' advice. He continued to practise every day. His skills improved and
he became a better player.

Two months later, he took part another squash competition. He was very happy because he won
all his matches and became the champion. His parents were very proud of him.

Last weekend, Mancha and his friends went camping at Sg Bakas. They arrived at the camping
spot after a few hours in a bus. When they reached the spot, they pitched their tent and collected
firewood.

In the afternoon, they explored the forest. They took photographs of the unique trees and insects
that they found during their exploration.

At night, as it was about to get dark, they built a campfire near their tent. They gathered around
the campfire, sang, played the guitar and shared stories about their lives. They had an enjoyable time.

Mark Colly was cleaning the store room. There was a lot of old newspapers and empty bottles in
the room.

He decided to send them to a recycling centre to get some extra money. He tied the newspapers
into stacks and arranged the empty bottles neatly in a box. In the evening, Mark Colly’s father drove him
to the recycling centre.

The worker weighed the newspaper stacks and counted all his bottles. The man gave Mark Colly
RM7 for his items. Mark Colly was very happy. He decided to continue selling recyclable items at the
centre.

One day, some nurses come to Hamid's school. They wanted to check the pupils' eyesight. Hamid
and his classmates waited for their turns outside the classroom.

Soon it was Hamid’s turn. The nurse asked him to cover one of his eyes and look to a chart on the
wall. Hamid could not see the alphabets on the chart clearly.

The nurse told Hamid that his eyesight was very poor. She also advised him to wear glasses.
Hamid thanked the nurse and promised that he would tell his parents about it.

Dato' Lee Chong Wei was born on October 21, 1982 in Bagan Serai, Perak. He started to
learn badminton from the age of eleven. He started playing badminton from the age of 11. His
father trained and encouraged him a lot in playing badminton. He was spotted by Misbun Sidek
and drafted in to the national team at the age of 17.

Dato' Lee Chong Wei is a Malaysian professional badminton player. He is an Olympic silver
medal winner for 2008, 2012 and 2016 Olympic Games. He was the only Malaysian to qualify for
the ‘men’s singles’ in the Olympics. He was the sixth Malaysian to win an Olympic medal.

He was honoured with the title of ‘Dato’ by the Malaysia Prime Minister, who called him a
‘national hero’.

Datuk Nicol Ann David is a national heroine. She is a Malaysian female


professional squash player who is currently ranked world number 4.

Datuk Nicol was born on 26 August 1983, in Penang. At the age of 5, she started to play
squash. She received coaching when she was at the age of 8. She was the youngest woman to win
the junior championship at the age of 15. She won the World Junior Championship twice in 1999 and
2001. She has won the World Open title a record 8 times. She has also won the Asian Squash
Championship nine times.
She was invited to carry the Olympic torch for Malaysia during the build up to the Athens
Olympics in 2004.

Pandelela Rinong Anak Pamg was born on the 2 March 1993. She is Malaysia’s first female
athlete to win the Olympic medal. She won a bronze medal in 2012 and a silver medal in 2016 for
diving.

She trained very hard and she never give up. At the 2009 World Aquatics Championships, she
won a bronze medal with her partner, Leong Mun Yee. She became Malaysia's first female flag
bearer at the Opening Ceremonies of the 2012 London Olympics. 

On 9 August 2016, She and Cheong Jun Hoong won the silver medal in the women's 10m
synchronized diving event in the 2016 Rio Olympics. They became the first Malaysian women's team
to win a silver medal at the Olympics. Malaysians are very proud of her.
