Nikko Oliver Villanueva is an emerging young composer who has written a wide variety of works

from sacred and liturgical music to popular and secular music. He has written a number of
choral works, company and product jingles and television music scores. His works are
performed by different groups such as Philippine Madrigal Singers, and Kammerchor Manila to
name a few.

He also launched his compositions and arrangements for the New Roman Missal entitled "The
Mass of St. John Bosco: Take Away the Rest" in 2016 which is now sung in different parts of the
Philippines and abroad such as Singapore, Italy and Austria.

In 2015, he joined the “Awit Alay Kay Maria” songwriting competition at the Our Lady of the
Annunciation Parish in Quezon City where he and lyricist Mervil Jilo Merjudio, won the grand
prize for their entry, “Maria, Ina ng Mananakop”.

As a guest artist, he has also recorded a number of songs with the Jesuit Communications'
Music Ministry, the media arm of the Philippine Province of the Society of Jesus.

He is currently the conductor and musical director of St. John Bosco Parish Chorale and the
National Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe Grand Choir. And as a tenor, he is now training with
the world-renowned Philippine Madrigal Singers.

He studies Bachelor of Music, majoring in choral conducting at the University of Santo Tomas
Conservatory of Music. To further enhance his musicality, he enrolled in the University of the
Philippines Diliman College of Music Extension Program where he studied songwriting &
composition under Mr. AJ Villanueva. He also went on to study harmony and songwriting under
the tutelage of Ryan Cayabyab, National Artist for Music at the Music School of Ryan
Cayabyab.

He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Architecture Degree from Polytechnic University of the
Philippines - Manila.
