HOW TO WRITE GRAPH (BAR, LINE, PIE, TABLE)

STRUCTURE

I. INTRODUCTION:
What to do: Rewrite the Question using your own words (paraphrase)
Using the fixed word frame:
“The bar chart provides an overview of …(how many/much, the
number/rate/figure of …)”
à how many/much + Subject + Main verb
à the number/rate of + Subject + V_ed/_ing
Also include some other features:
- Place(s) – where?
- Time or Time frame – when?
- (Measurement) , measured by gram per person per week.

II. OVERALL/GENERAL OVERVIEW


What to include:
- TREND task:
Mentioning the general changes or differences and time period;
including the most significant feature(s), and also adding the
clarification of the general difference of all the criteria mentioned
in the task (usually the higher/larger/greater group)
Using the fixed word frame:
“Overall, …experienced erratic period - increased – decreased /
were quite different – quite varied depending on/according
to/between,
with …being/witnessing/recording …, and also evident that …”

-COMPARISON task:
Mentioning the general differences including the most significant
feature(s)
Using the fixed word frame:
“Overall, …were quite different/varied depending
on/according/between …, with … higher/larger…, and also
evident that …”

III. BODY/DETAILS ANALYSIS


What to include: 5 to 6 features only
- Mentioning the most significant feature(s) first: increasing
group(s) or higher group(s).
- Supporting with Data
- Grouping some insignificant features together
- Connecting sentences with Linking words or phrases (usually
Addition or Compare/Contrast linkings)
