Merchant of Venice and Carmen?
Yes Ma’am. Those are samples of theatrical
play and opera.
Great. Do you have in mind on what will be
our lesson today?
I think Ma’am since we are done with the
opera composers of romantic period maybe it
will be about the technique or proper way of
acting just like in operas.
Okay, very well for your bright idea about it.

is on the box and a set of definition. You
choose the correct answer from the box and
write it on the board.
Each group should work as a team to find the
correct answer. Only 3 person is needed to
answer it. Is that clear?
Yes Ma’am.
(the teacher posted the visual aids)

I will give you 3 minutes to talk with your

group mates.
(the students starts to prepare for the task)

The group that will have the highest score

will be our winner and will receive a little
token.

Okay. Time is up.

All group kindly write your answers on the

Ancient Greece.

protagonist committing a crime and
realizing it as everything around him
falls.
Group 1, 2, & 3 answer Tragedy

Because Ma’am in Greece, dealt with tragic
events and have an unhappy ending,
especially one concerning the downfall of the
main character.
That is right.
4. Wrote the most comedy plays.
Group 1, 2, & 3 answer Aristophanes.

Yes Mr. Nam, you are raising your hands?

In addition to comedy play, I have read that
this was derived from imitation and has no
traces of their origin.
Yes, that’s true. I’m amaze that you also
know that. Thank you for sharing the class
about that.
5. Contains comic elements to lighten
the overall mood or serious play with
a happy ending

E. Analysis ( 5 minutes )

How was the activity?

It was fun and I like the way the lesson
flows. It teaches us not to be dependent to
what the teacher will teach.
Okay. Thank you.
Class why do you think, it is important to
know the Greek Theater?

Yes Mr. Cabaltea. Ma’am, it is important to know it because

they use theater to or as a way of
investigating the world they lived in, during
their times.

Thank you. That is correct and true.

What learnings did you get from the activity?

Okay, Mr. Montalban is raising his hands.
Let’s hear it from him. As long as I can remember and understand
from the discussion and activity earlier that
there are three genres of Greek theater the
comedy, satyr plays and most importantly the
tragedy.
Anyone else?
Okay, Miss Santos.
Of course, we should never forget the Parts
of Greek Theater which are the Theatron,
Skene, Parodos and of course the Orchestra
where a large circular area place in the
center where the play, dance, religious rites,
and acting took place.
Thank you for that wonderful sharing of
yours. Seems you learned a lot today.

F. Abstraction ( 5 minutes )
What do you think is the connection of our
lesson today in our lives?
Ma’am the connection of the lesson today
just like Sophocles, he was an important
influence on the development of the drama,
most importantly by adding a third actor and
thereby reducing the importance of the
Chorus in the presentation of the plot. And
by developing his characters to a greater
extent than earlier playwrights such as
Aeschylus. And also to appreciate and
recognize Sophocles effort and contribution
to the arts.
Great! But how are we going to maintain
their efforts or contribution?

Through listening and encouraging to watch

their operas in our free time.
Well said. I hope that this class will initiate to
make this possible.

G. Application (10 minutes)

With the same group. Each group has to
make a story play compose of:
1. Tragedy
2. Comedy
3. Satyr Play
I will give 3 minutes to prepare and then

time’s up)
