None, Ma’am.

B. Motivation/Review ( 3 minutes )
Okay class before we go to our new lesson,
let’s have a quick recall about our discussion
last meeting.

Who wants to share?

Ma’am as long as I can remember and
understand from the discussion and activity
last meeting, there are three genres of Greek
theater the comedy, satyr plays and most
importantly the tragedy.
Very good!
Any other?
Yes Mr. Lee.
Of course, we should never forget the Parts
of Greek Theater which are the Theatron,
Skene, Parodos and of course the Orchestra
where a large circular area place in the
center where the play, dance, religious rites,
and acting took place.
Very well.
Now, I want you to watch a video clip.
Afterwards you tell your insights and
observation about it, okay?

(the teachers shows the video clip)

Yes, Ma’am.

It’s a romantic movie clip. And somehow

heartbreaking.
What did your observe class?
Yes Ma’am.

Great. Do you have in mind on what will be

our lesson today? I think Ma’am since we are done with the
Greek Theater maybe our lesson today will
be about romance just like Shakespeare
Okay, very well for your bright idea about it.
wrote.
Very good!

C. Lesson Proper ( 20 minutes )

Romantic theater.

in square/broken U.
(the class form the group in a square)
Now, I have here a Jigsaw Picture Puzzle that
you have to fix.

(the teacher posted the visual aids)

I will give you 3 minutes to talk with your

group mates and create the picture and when
you are done post it on the board.

Is that clear?
Yes Ma’am.
Okay. Time is up.
All group kindly write your answers on the
board. And explain what it is all about.
(the students starts to prepare for the task)

GROUP 1
COMMEDIA DELL’ARTE
Italian comedy and a humorous theatrical
presentation performed by professional
players who traveled in troupes. And the
elaborate masques that were usually
presented in court.

Very good Group 1.

Next.

GROUP 2
QUEEN ELIZABETH I
The most prominent supporter of the theater.
Also called the Elizabethan Age. One of the
most important periods. Height of change in
drama; it becomes very expressive and a
force in the lives of people.
Morality play continued as farces.
Plays done in taverns:
People throw food at actors.
NO real scenery yet
All men…men even played women!
That was very informative group 2. Proceed
to the next group.

GROUP 3
WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE
Greatest dramatists of all time.
Successful because his plays appealed to
everyone.
Considered a master of characterization:
Characters are well defined and the center of
interest.
Characters are moved by emotions: love,
jealousy, and grief.
No Woman: female roles played by boys.
Globe theatre: Burbage managed later.
Great! Thank you. And before we forget he
wrote the famous playwright Romeo & Juliet,
right class?
Next group.

GROUP 4
BALLET DE LA NUIT
A formalized form of dance which originated
from the Italian renaissance courts. Money of
the Aristocrats’ was the responsible for the
initial stages of “court ballet” for the
Aristocrats’ entertainment. BALLET FOR THE
POLONAIS in 1573 was the first formal “court
ballet” ever.

Thank you group 4. And for our last group,

Group 5.

GROUP 5
PROSCENIUM
This is the area of a theater surrounding the
stage opening. Arches frame and divide the
stage from the audience.
Backdrops for scenery were popularized by
the art of painting clothes.

Thank you for the groups who participated.

Let’s give everyone a bog round of applause.

E. Analysis ( 5 minutes )

How was the activity?

It was fun and I like the way the lesson
flows. It teaches us not to be dependent to
what the teacher will teach.
Okay. Thank you.
Class why do you think, it is important to
know the Renaissance Theater?

Yes Mr. Cabaltea.

Ma’am, it is important to know it because
they use theater to or as a way of
investigating the world they lived in, during
their times.
Thank you. That is correct and true.

What learnings did you get from the activity?

Okay, Mr. Montalban is raising his hands.
Let’s hear it from him.
As long as I can remember and understand
from the discussion and activity earlier that
the Renaissance theater arts were
characterized by a return of classical Greek
and Roman arts and culture.
Anyone else?
Okay, Miss Santos.
Of course, we should never forget the
Greatest dramatist of all time and the Bard of
Avon and the writer of Romeo & Juliet which
is William Shakespeare.
Thank you for that wonderful sharing of
yours. Seems you learned a lot today.

F. Abstraction ( 5 minutes )
What do you think is the connection of our
lesson today in our lives?
Ma’am the connection of the lesson today is
that we are thankful of it, because without
the concept of being free to public viewing
we are able to see the wonders of arts and
culture of the Renaissance theater.
Great! But how are we going to maintain
their efforts or contribution?

Through listening and encouraging to watch

their operas in our free time. And to use their
works into our medium as learnings that we
can carry throughout our lives.
Well said. I hope that this class will initiate to
make this possible.

G. Application (10 minutes)

make a story play compose of:
1. Romance

I will give 3 minutes to prepare and then
