ABOUT THE STUDY

The location of the proposed reference deep test well, subject of this study, is situated in South Rumaila Field between well R-172 (TD of
5372m) in North Rumaila and Khadir Al-mai deep well KI-1 (TD of 5837m). The reference well is chosen to prove the hydrocarbon potential DEEP EXPLORATION TEST

of the Jurassic carbonate Mus formation and to explore Permian carbonate Chiazairi (Khuff ) formation. The target depth of the location is a
TD of 7000m TVD from ground level.

Exploration of deep prospects in Basra Basin can utilise this study to prepare drilling program with some adjustment on formation tops
using well data and new seismic in any new area in the Basin.

Additional advice is available to Consultants and IOC purchasing the study.

ABOUT IRAQ ENERGY

Iraq Energy Institute (IEI) was founded in January 2008. IEI is an independent non-profit entity which aims to provide a professional
platform to streamline efforts, to put theory into practice, and to synthesise proposed solutions to meet the policy, fiscal, technical, and
political challenges that are currently impeding the progress of development in Iraq's energy sector. In January 2009, IEI was officially
appointed by the Iraqi Parliament as ‘Advisor’ to the Oil & Energy Committee and to the Council of Representatives at large to assist
them in their mission of policy formulation and legislative reform.

IEI Objective is to rationalise the discourses on Iraqi energy policies in a professional manner to produce useful and actionable policy
recommendations for the optimum development of Iraq's energy sector, and in turn, for the benefit of the Iraqi people. We also aim to act
as a reliable source of information and research on Iraq energy policy for both policy-makers and the private sector and to educate the
public at large on all energy issues relevant to Iraq.

Headquartered in London, with offices in Baghdad and Erbil, IEI provides the chance of participation on important policy issues to
all those interested in the development of Iraq's energy sector. Funding for the organisation is generated in form of services, gifts and
donations from the private and public sectors, multilateral organisations, sponsorships from international companies and institutions,
and membership subscription fees.

Iraq Energy groups leading Iraqi and international experts in the energy sectors drawn from a variety of fields including industry
professionals, finance & banking executives, Iraqi & multinational corporations, academics & scholars, and consultants & policy advisers.

IEI Research generates studies and working papers that disseminate up-to-date information and fresh objective analysis on a wide
range of topics covering the full value chain of energy sector in Iraq including policy formulation, security dynamics, geopolitics, resource
assessment, emerging technologies, economic growth, commercial development, market forecasting, and regulations for environment
and social development.

IEI Offers reliable analysis, reports, workshops, seminars and lectures on a wide variety of topics related to the above contextually such
as global energy geopolitics, energy supply and demand, alternative energy sources, sustainable development, local content & capacity
building, and business development modeling & trends. IEI events are open to all outstanding scholars and consultants from around the
world to have the opportunity of participation and contribution positively to the development of Iraq.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY AUTHOR: Asim Alhassan
Favorable hydrodynamic conditions exist in the Basra depression with result that most of the structures are likely to be petroliferous containing Petroleum Geologist & Petrophysicist with more than 35 years of experience in the oil industry in Middle East and North Africa,
significant oil and gas accumulations. Large anticlinal structures and multiple stratigraphic traps can be expected mainly due to the presence of Experience includes.
deep-seated Infra-Cambrian to lower- Cambrian salts in the depression. The effect of salt movement during Mesozoic time and the influence of
Zagros Orogeny are thought to be responsible for creating and shaping most of the structures. Born in Missan in 1948, completed my primary and secondary studies in Baghdad. In 1972 received my Bsc. degree in Earth
Science-Geology at the University of Baghdad.

Khadir Al-mai deep well KI-1 (TD of 5837m) see location map (Figure –1). The reference well is chosen to prove the hydrocarbon potential of the In Feb. 1973 worked for the Basra oil company in Geology department, continued working as exploration geologist and then head of
Jurassic carbonate Mus formation and to explore Permian carbonate Chiazairi (Khuff ) formation. The target depth of the location is TD of 7000m exploration section till August 1988, mainly working on geological data analysis of new discoveries and oil prospects evaluation.

The Jurassic Mus formation, porous and permeable Dolomite with Limestone partly oolitic, tested light oil in Well R-172. This reservoir, equivalent till August 1993.
to Marrat reservoir in Northern Kuwait oil fields, is anticipated to continue having good properties in south east of Iraq (Basrah Basin). The
ChiaZairi (Khuff ) formation is Dolomitic limestone, which is penetrated by many wells drilled in Gulf countries. The formation, producing light oil In Oct. 1993 left to Libya and worked with D&G Oil fields Service Company as an exploration geologist on such key wells in Murzuq basin

Two deep wells have so far penetrated the ChiaZairi formation in West and SW of Iraq outside Basrah basin, without finding hydrocarbons. Three In 2001 worked as associate consultant for Bulgar-Geomin Oil Company of Libya (BOL), analyzing and
