1. Write a word equation for photosynthesis.

2. What’s a biome? Name two of them.

1- terrestrial and 2- aquatic.

Terrestrial biomes are based on land, while aquatic biomes include both ocean
and freshwater biomes.

2a. What biome would you expect to find a scorpion, a hawk, a rat, a snake, a cactus, and
a camel?

Terrestrial

2b. Draw a possible food chain from this list of animals?

2c. What do the arrows in this list show?

-The strong eat the weak For example: the fox eat the rat
-Animal food chain or food web

2d. Which is the producer in this list?

Basically, plants and algae are producers. They are at the bottom of the food
chain because they are eaten by other organisms, and they do not eat anything
else. Producers make their own food through photosynthesis.

a. What is the difference between a food chain and a food web?

1- A food web consists of many food chains
2- A food chain only follows just one path as animals find food.

b. Why is a food chain more specific than a food web?

Food Chain is more of a linear representation of a specific line of interaction within the
greater Food Web.

3. Why are phytoplankton and zooplankton important?

4. Draw a simple energy pyramid and label it using the terms primary, secondary, and
tertiary consumer, and producer. How many trophic levels are there in your pyramid? Why
is a pyramid used to depict the energetic relationship between the trophic levels?

7. How many types of craniates are there? Name them.

1- Hagfish

2-Lamprey

3-Lampreys

4-Cephalaspidomorphi

8. What are the different kingdoms of living things?

The six Kingdoms are: Archaebacteria, Eubacteria, Fungi, Protists, Plants, and Animals

9. How do you know a car isn’t alive whereas a dog is? Explain.

like a dog

a car can move, still we consider that the it as non-living. Plants and animals which
is a dog appear to grow in size with time.

10. How many different types of arthropods are there? Name them.

Arthropods are divided into four major groups:

 insects
 myriapods (including centipedes and millipedes);
 arachnids (including spiders, mites and scorpions);
 crustaceans (including slaters, prawn and crabs).

There are 5 major classes of arthropods. Insects, centipedes, millipedes, arachnids and

crustaceans. They all have their own characteristics to belong in that particular class.

11. What are the 5 main groups of plants?

Plants include familiar types such as trees, herbs, bushes, grasses, vines, ferns, mosses,
and green algae.
Biologist Whittaker gave us the Five Kingdom Classification, classifying all the living
organisms into five kingdoms – Protista, Monera, Fungi, Plantae, and Animalia. To know
more about plants, it is essential to know more about the Kingdom Plantae or in simple
words the plant kingdom.

13. Compare and contrast Mitosis and Meiosis in a human.

14. Correct order:

15.

Plant Only Plant & Animal Function

1. Ribosome is to synthesize proteins as directed in

the messenger RNA.

2. Large central

vacuole

3. Cell membrane is to protect the cell from its

surroundings.
4. Cell wall  is to give the cell strength and

structure, and to filter molecules that

pass in and out of the cell.

5. Mitochondria is to perform cellular respiration.

6. chloroplast is responsible for enabling

photosynthesis to occur so that plants

can convert sunlight into chemical

energy.
7. Nucleus is to control gene expression and

mediate the replication of DNA during

the cell cycle.
