Add-on components:
1. Microsoft Dynamics NAV license file: For
the proper operation of the solution, the
MobileNAV Add-on objects must be ordered into
the end-user’s NAV license through
PartnerSource. In case of developer NAV licenses,
the license must be updated once access to the
granule in VOICE is granted by MultiSoft (after the
MobileNAV Partner Contract has been signed).
2. Add-On objects: A file with .fob extension
containing the objects necessary for the operation
of the Add-on. The file is generated by MultiSoft
Ltd. (Version list: NAVW1x.xx,MNAD,x.x.x.x)
3. MobileNAV license codeunit: A file with
.fob extension containing a codeunit with the
license key appropriate for the MobileNAV license.
The license key specifies the maximum number of
devices that can be connected to the database,
and in case of demo license, the expiration date.
The file is generated by MultiSoft Ltd. (Version list:
NAVW1,MNLI)

Our MobileNAV solution requires minimum NAV
2009 R2 Product Version and a Business Ready
Licensing model. The previous product lines and
licensing models (like Module Based Licensing) are
not supported versions.

“In addition to the Foundation Pack, customers
must buy an appropriate number of licenses for
the users that will access the System Database.
There are three primary user types under Business
Ready Licensing: concurrent users, named users
and External Connector users. For users that are
employees, contractors or agents of the customer
organization, you must license concurrent users
and (if necessary) named users. For all other
access to the system database, you must license
external connector users (this includes access to
the system database by users external to the
customer organization, such as a customer’s
customers or vendors, Web Services or third party
applications).”1
Effective from September 1st 2010, Microsoft has
introduced three lighter access license rights to
help the customers more affordably extend their
Dynamics ERP to more people within their
organization. The previous "Dynamics Client for
Office"(DCO) was changed to Microsoft Dynamics
Light User (and the Employee Self Service User and
the Limited Device CAL).
Any user that accesses the Microsoft Dynamics
NAV system—even when accessing indirectly—
must be properly licensed. To grant the access to
the NAV system via the MobileNAV solution
Concurrent Users or Light users or External
Connector users have to be purchased.
All the functionality needed for MobileNAV is
available by purchasing the Light User license
therefore our suggestion is that each and every
SOAP (web services) user has to be licensed by
Light User. A BE or AM Light User license permits
the licensed user to access the NAV system
through means other than the Dynamics client

(such as through a web UI or a third party
application.)
Note: In the Business Ready Licensing Model the
Light User is a Named User. Named User licenses
are specific to an individual user and cannot be
shared. Often, this model is used to provide
certain individuals access to specific Microsoft
Dynamics NAV system. Note that if a user leaves
the organization, the license may be reassigned to
another user.
To use the MobileNAV in the Business Ready
Licensing model the External Connector is
available. External Connector licenses allow third-
party users to access the Microsoft Dynamics NAV
system. Third party users are any users that are
not employees and do not perform business
processes on behalf of the organization (such as
supply chain vendors). Only one External
Connector license is required for each Microsoft
Dynamics NAV system.

Microsoft is launching Perpetual Licensing for
Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2013. The Perpetual
Licensing model provides a step forward by
simplifying how customers purchase NAV2013.
The entire solution can be licensed via four core
components: The Starter Pack, the Extended Pack,
the Full User and the Limited User.
Any user that accesses the Microsoft Dynamics
NAV system—even when accessing indirectly—
must be properly licensed. To grant the access to
the NAV system via the MobileNAV solution Full or
Limited Users or External Users have to be
purchased.
Employees have to be licensed by Full or Limited
User licenses. Full User licenses provide users full
read and full write capabilities to all of the licensed
solution functionality through any and all modes
of access, including the Microsoft Dynamics NAV
Windows client, the Microsoft Dynamics NAV Web
client, the Microsoft Dynamics NAV SharePoint
client, or any other mode of access including web
services. Full User licenses are for users requiring
unlimited read and write access. As long as the
number of users needing simultaneous access to
the solution does not exceed the number of Full
User licenses you have acquired, these users are
properly licensed for full read and write access to
the complete solution functionality.
ISV Limited User licenses provide users full read,
but limited write capabilities to all of the licensed
solution functionality through any and all modes
of access including the Microsoft Dynamics NAV
Windows client. The Limited User license is
designed to give customers a lower-cost
alternative for extending ERP to users who only
require limited access to the Microsoft Dynamics
NAV application:
 Read access to data contained in the
solution through any client accessing the
application, including but not limited to
the Microsoft Dynamics NAV Windows
client, the Microsoft Dynamics NAV Web
client, the Microsoft Dynamics NAV
SharePoint client, and web services.
 Write access to a maximum of three
application tables in the object range 0 –
99,999,999 other than the General Ledger
Entry table, through any client accessing

the application. Access to the General
Ledger Entry Table requires a Full User
license.
 MobileNAV needs additional tables for
operating. ISV Limited User allows the end
user to access those extra tables.
Note: In the Perpetual Licensing model the
Limited user is a concurrent user. Concurrent User
licenses are based on the maximum number of
users that may access the Microsoft Dynamics
NAV system simultaneously. Concurrent User
licenses can be shared. Unlike Named User
licenses, which are permanently assigned to an
individual, Concurrent User licenses are assigned
temporarily to a user for the duration of their
active session. Once that individual end the active
session, the license may be used by another
individual and the previous users is not anymore
licensed to use access the solution.
Using the MobileNAV solution each session will be
opened until time of data migration or until it is
not closed by calling the CLOSESESSION function.
MobileNAV consumes license during the actual
data transfer. In online mode data transfer
correlates to uncashed data. In offline mode data
transfer takes place during the synchronization.
ISV Device License allows the user to connect to
the database and execute a warehouse or POS
business process without further limitations. “ISV
Device CAL”: is a license that allows either one POS
Device or one Warehouse Device to access the ERP
solution.
The End User must acquire and assign a CAL to
each device that accesses the WMS.MobileNAV
solution directly or indirectly. Each device can be
used by multiple users.
In the Perpetual Licensing model the MobileNAV is
available for External Users. According to the

“External users are customers of organizations
licensing Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2013. External
users are defined in the security table by assigning
named customer users an External User
designation. External users do not consume
concurrent users for access. External users must
not be used to perform business processes on the
customer’s behalf.” Based on this no license is
required to use the MobileNAV for External Users
as long as these external users are Customers.

Device Based Client Access License:
Allows the end user to use full functionality of
MobileNAV accessing the database using 1 named
device only. This CAL allows one device to connect.
This license is transferable in the case of loss or
damage of the device.
Device Based CAL allows the user to connect the
full configured functionality
Page Based Client Access License:
As we described in the former section the solution
use pages even in online and offline mode. Page
Based CAL allows the user to connect to the
database using any device but this CAL limits the
functionality to be reached. This CAL is designed
for business case with simple scenario, limited
number of steps relatively easy and straight
forward workflow that need to be accessed by
large number of devices.
