1. Warm-up
a. Teacher ask students to write down onthe whiteboard list of subjectives
for praising (e.g beautiful, amazing, good, the best, wonderful, gorgeous)
and poor or bad (e.g bad, horrible, terrible, the worst,)
2. Pre-teaching
a. Teacher ask students ‘what can we review’ and make a chart on the
whiteboard.
e.g: movie, books, restaurant, video games, app
b. Teacher gives some movie revie terms to variate students vocabulary
e.g:
Mediocre: competent but nit outstanding
Plot : what the story is about
Puns : clever play of words
Spoilers : when a critic reveals secret and plot points to ruin the elemets
of suprise to readers and watchers.
3. While-teaching
a. Teacher give short explanation or an outline of what review is
b. Ask students who have read a movie review before, if there is ask them to
share the experience
c. Teacher gives printed examples of different kinds of reviews while
students tell what kind of reviews are they.
E.g: ratings, comments, checklidt, etc)
d. Pair students to observe the elements that are present in the reviews
e. g: characters development, settings, plot/story, to who the movie is
recommended
f. Playing games:
Steps:
1) Students are divided into group of three and each group is given a
template review.
2) A student from each group will come to the front and search for the
right card to fill out the form teacher ask (e.g the name of the movie:
peter pan, how does the movie make you feel?: it makes me laugh
and happy for such a cheerful movie)
g. Students are divided into group of three students. Each group make a
chart based on the elements of review. Or teacher can give a review
template like the game before for easier use
h. Play a clip of movie that all the students have watched. Disscuss together
the character and the plot to help students remembering the movie.
i. Give them ten minutes to fill the chart review ot the template.
