This is a small, rectangular image produced in colour. This image possesses a stronger
looking up perspective than in the previous photograph which I like. I think this image is really
nice as it does convey the looking up perspective but still in a spacious way. This is an
improvement because in the previous shoot of this church, I found it hard to do both of these
things whereas here I have done this. These are the two most important elements to this
project and I think that I have done ti well enough for my audience to actually understand the
images meaning here. I used the rule of thirds to position myself and my camera in the
centre of this part of the building so that the image feels balanced. Balance/symmetry was
something I wanted to work on from the previous shoot and so I am glad I have successfully
accomplished this in this photograph. Balance/symmetry is very appealing to an audience
and therefore would entice people into looking at my work instead of others if it was in a
gallery perhaps. As well as positioning my church in the centre, I have also positioned the
occupied space/empty space to meet in the horizontal cross section of the frame to create
even more balance. I think that having equal parts of occupied space and empty space
makes the image feel balanced again but also represents my meaning well as these are two
of the key components to the meaning I’m aiming to convey. It makes the image feel
spacious whilst also representing old architecture from a new perspective/viewpoint.
This is a small, rectangular image produced in colour. In this image I used a slightly different
angle but still focused on the same viewpoint/perspective so that their is consistency within
the shoot and my meaning can be read nay my viewers. I used a fast shutter speed and low
aperture to take this image on my digital camera using manual settings. I did this so that the
details within the architecture of the church could be noticed by the audience as the old
architecture is an important factor of my meaning too. I used the fast shutter speed so that
the image was crisp clear and helps with this but I also used the low aperture to make the
image bright as this helps to open the image up and make it feel spacious — another key
factor to convey my meaning. Once again, the occupied space and the empty space are
pretty much equal parts to make the image feel balanced and convey all the aspects of my
meaning in an equal manner so that not only one part stands out, but all of them do. This
image uses a closer-up shot compared to the shot types I have used in the other images
from this shoot and I think its quite interesting. However, I wouldn’t do this again, necessarily,
because I think the long shots look better and convey my meaning better as it feels more
spacious this way.
This is a small, rectangular image produced in colour. This image feels the most spacious out
of all of them because the frame includes the most empty space. This is good however the
looking up perspective isn’t as clear in this image which is a limitation when ti comes to
conveying my meaning. It isn’t as clear because I have sort of used a long shot looking up
but zoomed in on the top of the building and it makes it look like I’ve just shot the top
instead of looking up at the top. This means that once again, not all of y meaning has been
conveyed in this photograph and therefore it isn’t one of my best pieces of work. Regardless
of this, the colours and tones are nice and make it feel super spacious which is good.
Another thing that is nice is the manual camera settings too, I used the same fast shutter
speed and low aperture to make the image crisp clear but also bright and vibrant. I did this
so that the church is depictable as old architecture by my audience and the blue sky is
vibrant and helps to make it feel like a spacious photograph.
