1. PURPOSE:

Clarify outboard stud installation requirements on GDY style wheels.

4. INSTALLATION PROCEDURE:

Stud threads should be lubricated using an approximant mix of 70:1 oil to powered graphite.
 #205 Graphite or equivalent screen mesh size
 Velcoite 6, SHC 220 or lower viscosity OR equivalent viscosity motor oil
Reference mix: 3 Tbs graphite to 1 Qt oil

Studs can be installed by hand or by use of an installation driver, until bottomed out – Force to install
cannot exceed 1,850 lbs ft as damage to threads may occur.

5. PROPER INSTALLED HEIGHT

During initial installation and/or anytime the subsequent nut has been removed or found loose the studs
should be checked for proper thread engagement.

Some variation is expected from wheel to wheel because of component tolerances, however the GDY106
wheel stud installed height should be approximately 6 9/16”. For other models, as well as the GDY106, it
is best to check for a uniform height and investigate studs not matching the lowest installed height.
