laptop

WHO states that by 2025, 58% of Irelands’ citizens will be obese? Professor Donal O’Shea

Comment on, is this linked to screen time etc., lack of exercise, Diet … Well being on the screen is
draining so people would start to eat unhealthy because they wouldn’t care. Also the main part is
that they aren’t getting exercise.

Amount of exercise students take. Atleast 30mins – 1 hour a day

Amount of exercise parents take. They should get the same as the students

Do parents spend more time on line than the students. NO students are spending moer time online
than the students

Link between local post offices closing down with the rise of online shopping. Well kids would always
be searching online for new things to get and things that they would want to get. My parents don’t
actually do much online shopping so I wouldn’t really know. Also with the virus getting out it is just
natural that people stay indoors and get stuff from online websites.
Will most people work from home via the internet in the next 10 years? I highly doubt that most of
us will be working from home in the next ten years ,of course with pandemic we have to stay home
and do work for now but I do not think that it will get so out of hand to the point we stay home for
work.

2. Safety on line
Downloading and Copy Write
List personal information you would never give out over the internet. (ppsn no, age ,etc.) My name,
My family’s names, Where I live, where I go to school, passwords, Accounts and My appearance.

Who owns the following sites?

Google- Larry Page, Bing- Microsoft, Wikipedia- Wikimedia Foundation.

Is the information on these websites reliable? Yes because these

organizations are to big to keep something like that a secret. It
also came straight form google.

Give an example of bias on the internet/media.

E.g. Donald Trump-Fox news continuously take Trumps part

defending his response towards the coronavirus. , ABC news- The
daily telegraph in England constantly takes the Tory
Governments part. They defend the Tory party and the prime minister they do not scrutinize the
governments actions, instead they seek to blame asylums, NBC- The NBC are known to have some
bias news due to making a better title so that is will sell but they are still, getting it from reliable
news sources

Explain the difference, news wise, between RTE and News talk. Rte is the national broadcaster
which is funded by the public tv license. It tends to take the govornments part. While newstalk is an
independent news station owned by Denis O’Brian.

Explain how you know if that information is correct. I googled it and asked my Mum.

Write 4 sentences on the history of listening to music e.g. records, cassette tapes,CDs and MP3.
When my parents were growing up they had records and cassettes. They enjoyed listening to these
dad says that music is best listened to on a record player. They remember CD’s coming along
followed by mp3’s. However they both prefer a record player.

How do you listen to music now (Spotify?)

Write 4 sentence on what copy write and royalties’ means (give some examples). My Uncle has
made a few songs and he has them so that he has royalties to them and they are copy write. This
means that if anyone plays them they would have to pay him some money (royalties) to play it. They
also cannot copy the song because it is copy write. These are basically a way to full proof your own
work, but you can also give other people the copy write rights and all so you can trade these things.

Discuss how bad for musicians it is to download music for free? They won’t be able to make money
off of it and if everyone just gets their music for free there will be no point in making music because
it takes a lot of money to make a successful peace of music.

Discuss if downloading pictures from the net is right or wrong? I think that it is ok in some cases but
it could also be bad in others. Based on people looking up pictures they might take a liking to one
and they might also want to change it around and all for them to really like it, so this is very handy
for everyone around the world but on the other hand people could benefit of them. People would
copy a famous or just a random talented peace and print it of and sell it or they could copy it and
change it a little bit and sell for more, this is the downside to downloading things off the internet.

Case Study

Lookup travigo.com and pick a hotel for 2 nights in Dublin.

Now visit the hotels own website and look for the same deal.
Is it any cheaper on the hotel website? No it is the same

Comment on how this is an example of how information can be incorrect. Well in some cases they
would charge more on the original website because no one would notice unless they checked on
trivago and the original but trivago finds the best deal for the hotel that you go to so they you don’t
have to pay more than you should.
