Herald Character Notes

Although you are the prince’s great grand childe, you have only been resident in Cambridge for a
relatively short six years. Embrace some 50 years ago, you are of the line of Mithras, but this
monster was long destroyed some time before your embrace – by your grand sire. You have been
taught by your sire about how Mithras was a powerful Ventrue, but eventually he went mad,
considering himself to be some kind of God-figure and endangering the Camarilla. The Prince of
Cambridge, Lord Henry Frankham, led a campaign against his grand sire (Mithras) and destroyed
him, being hailed as a hero in Camarilla circles.

You have spent a couple of years here and there, touring the grand empire of the Camarilla. It’s not
that you have itchy feet, but rather you consider yourself something of royalty, and that one day all
of this will be yours – or perhaps, closer to reality, one day you will be a big player in all of this! You
believe in good managerial principles, and information reports are no substitute from spending
actual time on the ground yourself. After a few decades of this, you have found yourself in
Cambridge – you plan was to come and meet your grandsire as part of this century-long tour and
had no intention of staying. That was six years ago, and you’re still here. Two years after arrived, you
began planning your next trip – out to Berlin – but then the Prince made you an offer you couldn’t
refuse, he made you Herald. The old Herald had decided to go on retreat somewhere in Russia –
rumours suggest he was pushed by the Prince, partly because the Prince wanted you, and partly
because the old Herald had done something to really anger the Prince. The Prince, a little paranoid
as always, felt it was much better to have someone of his line, who he believed he could put his trust
in (quite ironic when you consider he slayed his own grandsire from a similar position).

And so now you are the Herald, and your planned assent through the ranks seems to have been
accelerated somewhat (nothing wrong with Ventrue Nepotism!). You work somewhat in tandem
with the Seneschal – an unbound ghoul who looks after the Prince’s influence, safety and works a lot
of the politics on his behalf. For your part, you are more akin to a personal assistant – you make sure
his meeting book is in order, that proper etiquette is followed and you make announcements to the
court on his behalf. You know the official party line for everything, and make official announcements
[[take a look at the standing orders for things you have announced]]. You are also the Prince’s
personal chauffer, when he needs one.

When the Sabbat turn up (you don’t know they are coming for certain, but you’ve heard the rumour
along with everyone else, and know that the Prince has only scheduled a meeting with the Giovanni
at the beginning of the night, and has told you to keep the rest clear), you will be in charge of
informing the Prince of their arrival and making sure they know the procedure (mostly that they play
nice and wait until the Prince will see them). You will also be in charge of reporting to the Prince any
other significant events that occur during the event – you are the only kindred permitted to enter a
meeting of the Prince without invitation. He likes to keep who’s at what meetings somewhat secret.

Recently the Prince has been acting quite strangely – he’s missed some key meetings with primogen
members without explanation, and has been skulking off to other meetings that he hasn’t informed
you about, and has made his own way to. It’s all getting a little bit suspicious.
