CHAPTER I
Project Background

A. Name of the Business, it's Meaning and History

Company Overview
Introduction

S.E.N.S.O.R Centre for Studies was inspired on the realization that the overall
quality of research in the local academic setting, particularly in most public colleges and
universities, is not that comprehensive or developed if not substantive in its nature or
impact to bring about the change that the original proponents or researchers aimed in
society. Most researches done by either undergraduate or graduate students in higher
education institutions were just being shelved by the sector mainly due to the lack of
government support or enthusiasm to really put it into an application, the accumulated
knowledge in a certain discipline will just be wasted in the end. Moreover, the quality
and scope of student research in public schools have not developed for a very long
period due to either lack of resources by students or the absence of necessary skills in
undertaking research stemmed by the lack of proper training by academic institutions
where they belong.

Thus, the proponents will make the firm S.E.N.S.O.R or sensor, from the root word

of “sense” fromEnglish, which means a device used todiscover, measure, or detect a
physical change. Likewise, our endeavor to establish a “CentreforStudies” that willuplift
and develop the nature of research among students and organizations in the local
setting. We arrived in the formation of its meaning acronymically: Survey Extension on
the Nature of Students and Organizational Research that will cater theacademic sector,
public and private organizations need from designing to conducting, on data analysis
and publishing their research with focus on educational, social sciences, natural as well
as applied science, feasibility study, market research and public opinion poll or surveys.

The Centre will offer research services among its clients within and outside
ofMuntinlupa.

B. Type of Business Organization

The “S.E.N.S.O.R.” will be owned and operated by ABADSSAssociates Co. a


General Partnership between six academic colleagues, Mr. Raymond J. Anacta, Ms.
Aireen O. Bamba, Ms. JaecelArgana, Ms. Dan Esmeralda C. De Leon, Ms. Chaira Erica
M. Sibuyo and Ms. Ruth Ann P. Solitario. They are the students from the
PamantasanngLungsodngMuntinlupa (PLMun) taking up a Bachelor of Arts in Political
Science.

At this type of firm, the General Partners will be equally liable in any legal debt,
profit, and management responsibility in the business. The limited partner will not be
liable beyond the funds he contributes to the partnership.

C. Location of the Office

Our location is at 83 National Road, Putatan, Muntinlupa, 1772, Metro Manila.


We’ve chosen this place because it was accessible and near the City Hall and

strategically centered between Alabangand Tunasan, the north and southbound of the

City. This location was based on our target market college students of various private
and public tertiary schools that are operating within Muntinlupa and nearby areas.

The logo is inspired by an open book that represents education with a torch at
the center that symbolizes enlightenment, coupled with a circle as a depiction of a
magnifying glass for research. And finally at the bottom is the very object of the
organizations' mission, to be a partner and help the students in their research.

Mission Statement

To provide services that will cater in general, the students, academic


professionals, public and private organizations need from designing to conducting and
publishing their research. To partner with academic institutionsin enhancing and
developing the quality of research in the local setting.To effect change in society by
ensuring the realization and application of the accumulated knowledge derived from
general researchtowards development.

Vision Statement

S.E.N.S.O.R will be a Centre for Studies that the studentscan rely on in their
need fora solution to their research and other related endeavors. Promoting
resourcefulness, creativityand innovative methods in achieving their objectives in such
undertakings.

Objectives of the Study

The study would mainly focus on the following:

Management and Personnel Feasibility

A. Number of Proposed Personnel

Thenumber of proposed personnel in S.E.N.S.O.Rwill be thirteen, comprises of


six main positions held by the general partners, one directorship and another six
operational staffs. The President and Chief Executive Officer, Vice-President and Chief
Operating Officer, Secretary,the Treasurer,the Human Resource Manager, and the
Accounting Manager; Director for Research and the operational staffs: Receptionist,
Cashier, Research Associate, Research Assistant, Research Journal Archivist, and
Librarian, and the Communication and Information Technology Assistant.

The organizational chart presentedfor our firm, consist of six administrative
positions, namely the President and Chief Executive Officer, Vice-President and Chief
Operating Officer, Secretary, the Treasurer, the Human Resource Manager, and the
Accounting Manager; Director for Research and the operational staffs: Receptionist,
Cashier, Research Associate, Research Assistant, Research Journal Archivist and
Librarian, and the Communication and Information Technology Assistant. Also, all those
under the research department will from the research committee including the president
of SENSOR.
The founders and the key administrative positions will be the same. These
positions will be filled by the six general partners of the ABADSS Associates Co.

Job Description
The overall concerned for creating, planning, implementing and integrating the
strategic direction of the organization in its all components and departments of the
business. It is also responsible formaintaining the firm’s relevance in the research
community through the help of the Director for Research; establishing partnerships and

connections to academic institutions and various organizations to ensure the attainment

- Work and coordinate directly with the operation and research

the organization.As second in command to the CEO, as the COO he is tasked with
providing leadership, management, and vision to ensure that the business has effective
people, operational controls, and administrative and reporting procedures in place. Must

organization’s workforce.

- Answer phone calls and redirect them when necessary
- Manage the daily/weekly/monthly agenda and arrange new

Job Description
Oversee the financial affairs of the organization and ensure they are legal,
constitutional and within an accepted accounting practice. Ensure proper records are
kept and that effective financial procedures are in place. Monitor and report on the
financial health of the organization. Oversee the production of necessary financial
reports/returns, accounts and audits.

Duties and Responsibilities


- Liaising with relevant staff, board members, directors and/or
volunteers to ensure the financial viability of the organization.
- Make fellow executive board members aware of their financial
obligations and take a lead in interpreting financial data to them.
- Regularly report the financial position at the director's meetings
(balance sheet, cash flow, fundraising performance,etc).
- Oversee the production of an annual budget and propose its
adoption at the last meeting of the previous financial year.
- Ensure proper records are kept and that effective financial

The Director for Research reports to the Chief Executive Officer and is a key

the success of S.E.N.S.O.R.

- Mainly in charge of research data processing, analyzing,
sampling, and research design
- Deep knowledge and experience in Qualitative and Quantitative
research
- Contribute to the delivery of the organization’s strategy including
promoting excellence in the Centre’s contribution to the General
Research& Knowledge Exchange, Learning & Training.
- Accountable for the effective governance and management of
the Centre including, adherence to academic, research and
administrative principles.

Dress Code
 All the fellows of the Centre will not be required to wear any
uniform aside from formal business attire while inside the
premises of the company during working hours.
 Field personnel for Research including the Associates and
Assistant will be required to wear an official uniform issued to
them, a polo-barong with the Centre’s logoand semi-formal
business attire for their pants and shoes.
 All Centres’ staff should wear their ID’s issued to them for
proper identification while inside the center’s premises except to
the members of the executive staff andresearch committee.
 All staff of SENSOR except the members of the executive staff
and the research directoris required to work eight (8) hours a
day, starting from 8 AM to 5 PM.
 There will be a one-hour break from 12 NN to 1 PM, and a 30-
minute paid coffee break in the afternoon. The Centre will be
operating only five days a week. The Centre will be closed
during weekends, Saturday and Sunday respectively.

Job Description
Collects edits, processes, and coordinates research data in support of a specified
research study or group of studies. Arranges and conducts field interviews as
appropriate to the study, and records research data in accordance with specified
protocol and procedures. Travels to various sites within a specified geographical area,
as appropriate to the objectives of the study.

Duties and Responsibilities


- Travels to field sites to collect and record data and/or samples.
- Codes and verifies data in accordance with the specified
research protocol and coding procedures, and enters data into a
computer database and/or spreadsheet application for
subsequent analysis.
- Develops or assists in the development of interview schedules;
contacts potential subjects to introduce and explain study
objectives and protocol, and to arrange interviews, either in
person or by telephone.

requirements. The data for bureau of international revenue is derived through 30% of
the income. This 30% is based on the law partnership and corporation.

Financial Risks

Financial Risk is one of the major concerns of businesses around the world,
regardless of industry. Risk is referred to as the chances of having an unexpected
outcome. There are different types of risks that a business might encounter and needs
to overcome. SENSOR Centre for Studies like any other growing business has the
possibility of getting involve to financial risks on its operations throughout the 5years of
its course. The projected sales of the business may result to lower sales than expected
but the proponents are prepared to face these challenges. Financial risk generally
arises due to instability and losses in the financial market caused by movements in
product prices, interest rates and more.
The Centre has also the potential of encountering business risk. As the value of
the services and products change, the profitability of the business will also vary.
In operational risks, needs and demands of consumers might be a problem to the
business if they cannot meet it. Furthermore, mismanagement of tasks and procedures
