RUST PREVENTIVES

Rust and corrosion are factors of major economic importance costing industry and consumer’s abnormal
expenses. This unwanted expenditure can be curtailed/eliminated markedly through the use of petroleum
based temporary rust and corrosion preventives.

Various protective measures like alloying, plating, painting, etc. are used by the engineering industry to
prevent metals from the effects of corrosion. While the measures indicated above are of a permanent /
semi-permanent nature, petroleum based rust preventives find wide application for temporary corrosion
protection during storage and transportation.

Rustop grades have been selectively formulated for various applications and offer the following advantages.

These are non -staining

These are compatible with lubricating oils and hence the surface film need not be removed.
These are easily applied by brush, spray or swab.
These are easily removable by solvent.
These are economical.

HP RUSTOP 172
RUSTOP 172 is recommended where protection is required for ERW Tubes. The product can be used
straight without dilution with SKO (Kerosene).

HP RUSTOP 173, 184

Solvent cut back type rust preventive useful under moderate conditions and for interim protection from
rusting. Rustop 173 possesses finger print neutralization and water displacement characteristics.
Rustop 184 is a light moderate duty rust preventive giving nondrying film.
Application areas: Rust preventive specially designed for application on wide range of single items, on
interior surfaces where elaborate protection is unnecessary. However, these grades should not be used
where small orifice cavities occur.

RUSTOP 173 DW
It is an outstanding water displacing , non staining dewatering fluid cum Rust preventive which rapidly
separates water from metal surfaces after machining operations or alkali cleaning. The grade is barium free.

RUSTOP 175
A premium solvent based rust preventive oil that forms an acid fume resistant film. Specially developed for
steel industry for storing stacked and coiled steel strips in presence of humidity.

RUSTOP 274
RUSTOP 274 is a premium rust preventive oil used in final packing stage in critical applications such as in
ball bearings. In addition to water displacing property, it has an additional finger print neutralizing property.
Due to its superior properties, it can offer protection for extended durations when used undiluted. For inter
process protection, however, it can be diluted with mineral turpentine, to cut costs. Incan also be used as a
sealant for sophisticated components.

RUSTOP 275
A premium low viscosity rust preventive oil specially designed for usage in small bearings in order to
enable easier penetration into deep interiors of a small bearing. A tailor made variant of the same is
recommended for usage at NBC Bearings.

RUSTOP 275 SUPERCLEAN

RUSTOP 275 Super clean is a RUSTOP 275 with a NAS filtration.

RUSTOP 276
Premium quality solvent cut back type rust preventives useful under extreme conditions (severe salty
atmosphere) capable of rust inhibition for extended periods. The product can be used after dilution or as
supplied.

RUSTOP 281
Premium rust preventive oil for steel rolling industry using electrostatic oilers for application of rust
preventives.

RUSTOP 282
This is an oil based rust preventive having a higher film thickness.

RUSTOP 285, 286, 287, S
Premium quality oil film type rust preventives. They are lubricating oils containing soluble corrosion
Inhibitors. Rustop 285 possesses moderate water displacement characteristics. Rustop 286 is oil type
nondrying combination lubricant cum rust preventive. Suitable for internal protection of gearboxes, back
axles, assemblies, oil and fuel tanks, IC engines etc. Rustop S is most suitable for cold rolled
steel components. It can provide rust protection even in humid and saline atmospheres.

RUSTOP 387, 388
Greasy film type rust preventives. These products do not contain any solvents but contain rust preventing
additives. Application of these rust preventives is by hot dipping. They are soft waxy solids at room
temperature. Specially developed for usage in piston assemblies, oil seals, transmissions and timer chains.
Also used for rust prevention of items such as milling cutters, plain bearing inserts and highly finished
gauges.

RUSTOP 389
This is semi fluid type of rust preventive recommended by certain forging industries for their finished
components.
