Bernard Black Elementary School

After School Tutoring Program (21st Century)

Small Group Budget Proposal

Bernard Black Elementary School is a Tile 1 funded school that will be implementing an

after school-tutoring program funded by the 21st Century Grant. The attached excel spreadsheet

shows the amount of money that will be funded as well as the monthly and yearly expenditures.

Bernard Black Elementary School has a total population of 675 students who come from

low-income households. More than half are population of students are ELL and are in need of

extra support. This focus area aligns with my schools CIP (continuous Improvement Plan)

towards student achievement.

“The 21st CCLC programs must provide safe environments for students during non-

school hours. Each grant program must serve students from one school site, where at least 40%

of the students attending that school qualify for free/reduced meals; however, services may be

offered at the school and at other locations. All centers must provide a range of high-quality

services to support student learning and development” (21st Century Community Learning

Centers Grant). This program must reinforce the regular curriculum and provide the extra

support needed. It is also an opportunity for meaningful and active engagement and provides

opportunity in education development.

Teachers are required to complete a timesheet and paper work for each student in order to

get paid each month. Teachers are also required to keep track of student growth and plan

engaging lessons for their small group. Teachers get paid $25/hour and work 4 days a week.

This after school tutoring program supports my schools mission and vision by striving

towards are student success rate. “At Bernard Black Elementary School we provide innovative
instruction in a safe, kind, diverse, and supporting environment.  Every day we educate to create

innovative leaders with a problem-solving mindset to face the challenges of tomorrow” (Bernard

Black Elementary School).
