Bernard Black Elementary School is a Tile 1 funded school that will be implementing an
after school-tutoring program funded by the 21st Century Grant. The attached excel spreadsheet
shows the amount of money that will be funded as well as the monthly and yearly expenditures.
Bernard Black Elementary School has a total population of 675 students who come from
low-income households. More than half are population of students are ELL and are in need of
extra support. This focus area aligns with my schools CIP (continuous Improvement Plan)
“The 21st CCLC programs must provide safe environments for students during non-
school hours. Each grant program must serve students from one school site, where at least 40%
of the students attending that school qualify for free/reduced meals; however, services may be
offered at the school and at other locations. All centers must provide a range of high-quality
services to support student learning and development” (21st Century Community Learning
Centers Grant). This program must reinforce the regular curriculum and provide the extra
support needed. It is also an opportunity for meaningful and active engagement and provides
Teachers are required to complete a timesheet and paper work for each student in order to
get paid each month. Teachers are also required to keep track of student growth and plan
engaging lessons for their small group. Teachers get paid $25/hour and work 4 days a week.
This after school tutoring program supports my schools mission and vision by striving
