OUTDOOR CABINET

GENERAL
RBS 2000 is designed to make the installation procedure as easy
and as fast as possible. All cabinets are delivered preassembled
and tested at the factory prior to delivery. The cabinet is
delivered according to the customer requirements with IDB and
BTS software loaded.

The outdoor RBS consists of a radio cabinet and mounting base.

The mounting base, with all cable entries, is installed and tested
first. When the mounting base is installed, the radio cabinet is
mounted and connected to the mounting base. Then the hole site
is tested and then integrated into the network.

The radio cabinet and the mounting base have different locks,
making it impossible for personnel maintaining the Transport
Module, to access the radio cabinet.

PREINSTALLATION AND TESTING

Before installation of the radio cabinet, the following is to be
carried out:

• Foundation of the RBS

• Mounting base installation
• Mains power supply installation
• Antenna, feeder installation and testing
• Transmission equipment installation and testing

A concrete plinth or a steel frame (if mounted on top of a

building) is used as the cabinet base.

3 Installation

The mounting base is mounted on the concrete plinth. In Figures

3-2 and 3-3, an example is shown on the correct procedure for
connecting the cables. The cables are taken in from below, or
from the side of the mounting base. The cabinet is then
grounded. Mains power is connected to the ACCU. Antenna
jumpers are taken into the mounting base. External alarms are
connected to the EACU. PCM cable is connected to the TM
equipment.

In order to protect the mounting base against unauthorized

access and bad weather conditions prior to radio cabinet
installation, a cover is installed on the mounting base.

RADIO CABINET INSTALLATION

The cabinet is lifted onto the mounting base during installation.
The 2101 can be lifted by hand, but the 2102 must be lifted with
a crane. Under the 2102 cabinets, there are dowels that fit into
the keyholes in the back of the mounting base.

These dowels and keyholes make it possible for the installers to

fasten the cabinet from the front with four bolts. The 2101 is
fastened with eight ordinary bolts.

3 Installation

The cabinet is fastened on the front with four screws from the
inside of the mounting base.

The cables to the radio cabinet are then connected in the

mounting base. Batteries are installed. The RBS is then started
and tested and integrated into the network according to the Site
Installation Test manual.

The indoor RBS consists of approximately one part. An external

backup source can be installed at the site for battery backup. All
cables are connected to the top of the cabinet. External alarms,
power to TM equipment and PCM-link from the TM are
connected via a Distribution Frame (DF).

PREPARATION & INSTALLATION

In order to install the RBS the following is recommended prior
to installation:

• Mains power supply installed

• Antenna and feeder installed and tested
• Transmission equipment installed and tested

The indoor cabinet, 2202, does not have the same type of
mounting base as the 2101 and the 2102. Instead it has a simple
steel frame that is fastened to the floor.

The cabinet has slots in the back that fit over bolt heads on the
steel frame and it is secured with two bolts in the front.

When the cabinet is mounted, all cables are to be connected to

the cabinet roof. The RBS is then tested and integrated into the
network according to the Site Installation Test manual.
