Thermal Analysis Assignment

Task 1

The thermal analysis of an electronic circuit is important because some components can get very hot during
use, therefore knowing the thermal resistance we can aim prevent damage occurring to components when
they get too hot.

One way of preventing this is to apply heat sinks to the top of the components; a heat sink is used to provide a
low thermal resistance to a component and dissipate the heat into the surrounding air. The most common
components that require this are semiconductors like regulators and transistors, they are also commonly used
on BGA’s ( Ball Grid Array’s.)
