Class Syllabus

Shop Skills
Mr. Wondra
Class Description (from bulletin): This is a full year course designed to teach woodworking and
metal working skills. Students will learn to use a variety of machines and tools as they explore
elements of planning, construction and finishing of their individual projects. Students will pay
for materials used on personal projects.

Grading Scale: 90% – 100% = A

80% – 89% = B
70% – 79% = C
60% – 69% = D
0% – 59% = F
Grades are based off of daily grades including participation, attendance, tardiness, and work
ethic in the lab; skill performance; and various quizzes, worksheets, and tests. The bulk of the
points are earned from the skill performance portion. (projects)

Attendance/Tardiness: Because the largest amount of points is earned in the skill performance
section of the class, it is very important that all students are in class and on time. Students will
lose participation points for absences and tardiness, however these can be made up during
lunch or after school. It is the student’s responsibility to make arrangements for any make-up
work.

Materials Required for this class: Safety glasses, closed-toe shoes, pencils (preferably
carpenter’s pencils), and a tape measure (16’ is fine). Some students like to have a pair of
coveralls or an old shirt to wear in the shop. This is fine, and there are places available for
students to keep their personal items in.
