It is sometimes thought that people who travel outside of their own country

are more tolerant and understanding of others. To what extend do you agree?

International travel lets people gain a deeper understanding of foreign cultures, traditions and the
country's that they originate from. I also think that travelers who travel frequently have a more
open minded perspective or a strong belief about controversial discussions.

Let's start with, people of different nations have their own beliefs and traditions. If an individual
decides to go abroad for a short-time, they may come to face foreign language and rules as well
as the way people communicate. This experience helps to broaden their mindset. I
personally believe that a person is more likely to improve his level of tolerance while going
abroad than being social in his home town or country. Therefore, international travel is often
seen as an important life experience.

Another area is that individuals who have visited international destinations tend to change their
view about social problems in their own country and surroundings. For example, it is noticeable
that in many countries, people lack tolerance for gay marriage as well as discriminate against
people of color. However, if they had some experience travelling abroad, they would be more
likely to accept and respect race, beliefs and cultures. Moreover, we see the people that are more
open minded do to traveling abroad are likely to be happier overall. By contrast, if a society is
less tolerant and less understanding, the community as a whole will not overcome their social
problems.

In conclusion, having the opportunities to meet and interact with people of different cultures has
an impact on the way people think about their own traditions. It helps to rethink and open the
mind to things that would seem foreign or taboo to us.
