The Epic Swap

Task
You and your group will work together to create a narrative that reflects a clear
understanding of how perspective effects characterization in The Odyssey. You will need
to write a one page narrative story, using google docs, taking on the perspective (and
point of view) of either Scylla, the Cyclops, or Circe. You will present this narrative to an
audience of your peers, so creativity is a must!

Requirements:
You and your group will be assigned one of the three characters that Odysseus
fights against in The Odyssey. You will need to revisit the places in the epic where that
character appears, and then you will select one of the scenes where this character
interacts with Odysseus. Your group will re-invent this scene, but instead considering
how this scene went for the OTHER character. Feel free to be creative with your retelling
and flesh out the character. Your scene must include:
1. At least TWO epithets (5 pts each - 10 total)
2. At least ONE epic simile (10 pts)
a. Since it is not in the format of a poem, the simile should be a full sentence
in length
3. At least ONE allusion (5 pts)
4. At least ONE instance of alliteration (5 pts)
5. The above must be labeled before turning it in to me (2 pts)

Make sure your narrative is at least one page in length & formatted
correctly as was explained in class (5 pts).

Total points: 37

You will need to bring a printed copy to class to perform your narrative tomorrow.
