Part one: introduction robots 10 minutes

Prepare the kids:

- write the word robot on the board but misspelled : O-T-R-B-R-O
- have the kids find the right order quickly
- write some questions on the board like
- do you like robots? Why ,and why not?
- Do you have any robots at home? What for?
- Name two and bad things about robots

At this stage the teacher is preparing the kids to the topic rather then to say:
hello…..today we will speak and play with robots.

pay kids attention on how the robot is moving ( its following some lines on the
floor)

ask them if they want to have such at home ? and for what?

Introducing OZOBOT! 20minutes

- On/off : Show the ozobot and pass it around so the student learn how to
switch it on and off

Explain that the ozobot is a tiny robot that follows line like the one in the video
don”t tell the kids that they have to use markers

Calibration: explain that before to use the OZOBOT you have to calibrate it on
the piece of paper you are working on by drawing a round black circle using black
marker
- Press hold the power botton for 2 second until the light flashes white
- Put it on the calibration circle
- When the light turns green and the bot make a step forward it means its
calibrated

Practice calibration

- Challenge one : let the kids figure out how it work by setting two point A
and B and ask them if they can make the bot reach out from A to B

- Introduce the black marker ( draw a line fromA to B and see what happens)
waaaawww!

- Now kids understand that ozobot follows lines

- # Pay attention that the line has to be not too think and not to think for the
robot to recognize it

# Pay attention to the curves that they have to be just about right as shown in
the picture

- Have them create a free drawing with lines and curves and test the
ozobot on it.

Evaluate the best shape !!!

Have a snack time

Lesson 2 introducing color codes

- Explain the kids that OZOBOT has a language which is 4 colors

(blue,greend, black and red)
- Allow students to draw free lines using the 4 colors.
- Put the bot at start and see what happens to the light

Explain that it recognizes the light via the sensor eyes which are on the back
- Show them the eyes

teach ozobot to execute orders (blue-black-blue) and (red-green-blue)

- Draw a normal black line with the code (BLUE-BLACK-BLUE)

- Start ozobot from left to right
- See what happens
- Place the ozobot to start from right to left
- See what happens
The ozobot reads the same code ( it doesent matter from which side he is moving
( left or right). Kids has to know this!! When after planning their map

Practice :

Have kids practice by themselves to draw the code correctly

Now introduce the second code : (RED-GREEN-BLUE)

- Follow the same steps

- Notice that the robot when moving from left to right it reads (RED-GREEN-
BLUE) which is the code for……… forgot!
- When it moves from right to left it reads ( BLUE-GREEN_RED) another
code……………

Practice :

Have kids practice by themselves to draw the code correctly

Final tast ask kids to draw their OZOBOT plan and place the codes they
learned .

Congratulation they just learned how OZOBOT works

End day by some pictures and selfies of creation
