Final Reflection
I value nature, the outdoors, and the
environment because it provides a place where
I can find peace and not have to deal with the
issues of society. Furthermore, nature is where
I have some of my favorite memories and that
holds great value to me. To demonstrate the
value that nature holds for me I treat it with
respect. I try to leave it as closely to what it
was before I arrive if not in better shape.
The ethic that I hold when going into
nature is “leave no trace”. It is not possible to
leave absolutely no trace but I try to leave as
little of one as possible while also cleaning up
after others before I leave.
Over the course of the whole school
year I feel like I have grown. Going all the
way back to Bryce Canyon even on that trip I
learned so much. Before Jumpstart I never realized how big of an issue social trails can be. I also
don’t think I noticed how much trash can be hiding in plain sight at a campground. I also learned
to appreciate the perks of society such as running water and especially showers.
