* RESOLVING ETHICAL ISSUES

Resolving ethical issues such as

•misuse of psychologists work

•conflicts between ethics and law

•conflicts between ethics and organizational demands

•Reporting ethical violations

•Improper complaints

A psychological work should not conflict against law or any regulatory


bodies

what is ethics is essentially not law. Given the situation something


ethical may go against the law so the issue must be resolved in the
favour of law without disrupting the ethical code.

* COMPETENCE

Psychologists should provide service only in their own area of


competence, unless there is a emergency situation.

when a psychologists have a personal problem thats troubling them it


may influence the assessment of their client, hence they must first seek
the professional help to deal with their problems effectively.

when a psychologist os notvcompetent enough in that area may give


wrong diagnosis & therapy which will affect the client.

*HUMAN RELATIONS
Psychologists maintain a good relations with their clients.

when a psychologist is exploitative and rude to their client, It affects the


client psychologically.

A psychologist should first get the informed consent of an individual


before making any services.

* PRIVACY AND CONFIDENTIALITY

Psychologist maintain privacy and condidentiality of their clients


information.

They wont disclose the information without the consent of their client.

It may affect a person, when disclosing their confidential information to


the public, It is against the ethical code.

* ADVERTISING AND OTHER PUBLIC STATEMENTS

A psychologist who makes wrong statement about himself or a


research or a client is against the ethical code and may be charged for
violating the ethics.

* RECORD KEEPING AND FEES

Record keeping and fees such as

•Documentation of professional and scientific work and maintainence


of records

•witholding records for non-payment

•fees and financial agreements

•Barter with clients


•Accuracy in reports to payors

• Referrals and fees

*EDUCATION AND TRAINING

A psychologist ensures there is accuracy in teaching

* RESEARCH AND PUBLICATION

• Psychologists do not plagiarize. Informed consent is obtained from


the individuals after which the research is conducted.

* ASSESSMENT

Psychologists obtain informed consent for assessments. they do not


promote use of psychological assessment techniques by unqualified
persons.

* THERAPY

Psychologists get the Informed consent to therapy and inform their


clients the developing nature of treatment the risks involved , the
alternative treatments that may be available and terminate the therapy
when it becomes clear that the patient no longer needs the service.
