Activities to develop

Individual:

It is important to clarify: This course is in English and as it is specified

in the Rules and conditions for the development of the course:
The student must develop the proposed activities on due time,
in English. Contributions in different languages won´t be evaluated.

Also, it is important to take into account: Submitting a document that

is not developed by the student will achieve a score of (1)

The students must develop the following activities:

1. Read the following references for Unit 3 at the Knowledge

Environment:

 Dolan, J. P. (2017). How to Overcome the Top Ten

Negotiating Tactics.
 World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) & International
Trade Centre (ITC), (2010). Exchanging Value – Negotiating
Technology Licenses, A Training Manual (pp 82-85).
 Mc Manus, J. P. (2012). Intellectual Property : From Creation to
Commercialisation: A Practical Guide for Innovators &
Researchers. Chapter 21: Negotiation and Licensing.
 Triana Ortiz, K. (06,12,2018). Technologic Contracts. [OVA].

2. Individually, each student of the group must choose one of the

following topics and post its selection in the Collaborative Learning
forum:
a. Top Ten Negotiating Tactics
b. Negotiation process including the four phases: The
preparation, The discussion, The proposing and The bargaining
c. Negotiation terms
d. Negotiation agreement
e. Technological contracts

3. According to the topic selected previously, using the online tool

Genially, create a “Video Presentation” including:

 Student name, date, group number

 Topic Tittle
 Topic Description
 Examples
 References

Only one student per group must work on each topic, it

means for example, if one student selects Technological
contracts, none of the other four students can present the
“Video Presentation” of Technological contracts, they must
choose another topic. In case a second student present a video
related to Technological contracts, it cannot be evaluated.

Finally, post the link of the Genially “Video Presentation” on

the Collaborative Learning forum.

4. Performing technological surveillance is one of the key activities to

success in technology negotiations, part of it is identifying patents
that have been registered, allowing engineers to understand what
has been done and what are real opportunities to innovate.

According to the computer program described by each student in the

video presented in the Step 2 - Create value from technologic
innovation, chosen from the survey carried out in step 1, the
following activities must be developed:

a) Visit the Practice Learning Environment, Educational resources

and read the Guide for the use of educational resources –
PATENTSCOPE.
b) Choose a key word related to the use given to the computer
program chosen in the previous step (Examples: Accounting,
Sales, Stocks management, CRM, Customer service)

c) Develop a search in PATENTSCOPE database using the key

word selected before, identifying the patent that you find the most
interesting.

d) Consolidate the findings in the following PATENTSCOPE

5. Record and post in YouTube a 2 - 3 minutes video where the

student appears himself explaining in English his conclusions related
to the course including:

 Student name
 Group number
 Date
 The importance of understanding valuation and negotiation of
technology to contribute to solve the problem of digital
transformation in Colombia

Post the YouTube link on the Collaborative Learning forum.

6. In order to continue developing the diagnosis to understand the

situation in Colombian enterprises of digital transformation, it is
important to write a methodology for the research.

Research involve the methodology description as a crucial step,

therefore, each group member must read the following
complementary reference from unit 3 at the Knowledge
Environment:

Kuada, J. E. (2012). Research Methodology : A Project Guide

for University Students (pp 59-60).

Based on this information, and its own search on internet, libraries

or other reliable sources, each student posts on the Collaborative
Learning Forum a mind map describing an appropriated research
methodology related to the diagnosis, according to the following
chart:

Individual Methodology Description

Student Name
Date
Type of research
Phases of the methodology
References (Use APA)

7. Based on the reading and taking into account the proposals posted
by each student in activity 6, each group must define a research
methodology according to the following Research Methodology

Phases of the methodology

Describe each phase including the
information collection and the final
presentation of results

8. Collaboratively, each group must consolidate a PDF document to be

submitted to the Monitoring and Evaluation Environment according
to the guidelines given below in section Products to deliver by
student, and name it with the following structure:

 VNT_Step 3_Group number

The final report must include the following:
