Scuba diving

Scuba is an acronym for "underwater breathing apparatus". With this equipment, one can
experience the freedom to discover and enjoy all the great qualities of ocean. Whether it's the fish,
corala, shipwrecks or just enjoyment of zero gravity; one can experience all while doing scuba diving.

Aren't we curious about what the other seventy-one percent of the Earth looks like? Scuba Diving is
astonishing way to explore that. The oceans are home to more biodiversity than on everywhere else.
Therefore there is always be wonderful and interesting to see there. As well as a amazing challenges,
scuba diving holds the chance to see the shadowy caves and beautiful fishes that were previously
only dreamed of. Scuba Diving is an enticing sport that includes a , diverse activities, fascinating
history as well as many problems that may occur infront of us.

Scuba diving is a way of underwater diving where the diver uses a self-contained underwater
breathing equipments, which is independent of surface supply, to breathe underwater. Scuba divers
carry their own source of breathing gas, which is usually compressed air allowing them greater
independence and freedom of movement than surface-supplied divers, and longer underwater
capability than breath-hold divers.

The sport of scuba diving has a very vague background. Greece is said to the true origin of
diving. This notion has came from and been proven by the presence of dyes made from shellfish that
only lives on seabeds. Retrieving these could have had been possible only by the skills of some sort
of diver. Early Creatan civilizations around 3000-1400 B.C. focused their economy and art around
diving and the products that they retrieved from the seas. Fish, sponges, and Murex shells, were
used for their purple dye and all important items that were retrieved from the sea. Pacific Island
natives have shown their diving skills for many centuries to retrieve pearls and sponges.

There is nothing like the feeling of freedom of the first dive in warm, clear, tropical water. We
pounce effortlessly through the water, not held back by the need to return to the surface. Even the
scuba apparatus, so heavy and cumbersome on land, loses its weight and does not hinder our
movements. The only limitation is the size of tank.
Scuba diving is the best way to literally, swim with fishes. Unless sudden movements are
made, fish do not mind the diver's mien. With out sudden movements one can enjoy the beauty and
finesse of the worlds most tropical fishes. Scuba diving is also the best way to explore massive coral
gardens. In some cases, coral can grow inside of wrecked ships. With minor safeguards, one can
enjoy the coral while exploring the wreck lying in the ocean. Who knows, something of invaluable
awaits you.

Many ocean lovers agree that scuba diving is the best way to experience the ocean's wild life.
Whether it's the fish, coral, shipwreck or just the enjoyment of zero gravity, one can experience it all
while scuba diving.

The ocean has a deep serene environment with extremely refreshing sight . It is not only the sand
and the sun that make it relaxing; it goes beyond the surf into the deep blue ocean.Though, no sea
exploration has been possible without self- contained underwater breathing equipments.

Scuba diving, nowadays, consists of no heavy metal suit, but instead gas cylinders and an air hose,
which provides the divers with great manoeuvrability underwater. This type of underwater
exploration, was not heard of until around the 18th century, where early diving history takes place.
In 1771, one British man named John Smeaton invented the first air pump, which was connected to
a diving barrel filled with air, which today would be a gas tank. Just an year later, a French man
named Sieur Freminet invented a "re-breathing" device. . This device recycled exhaled air that went
straight into barrel. However, this device paved the way for inventors to improve, Freminet died
from a lack of oxygen using this device only twenty minutes after using it. An English inventor,
William James, invented a metal helmet that is seen often in museums. It consisted of belt with an
elongated tube that brought air to helmet. This device could only be used for seven minute dive
limit. The word "scuba', however, was not in used until 1939, but when an American doctor named
Christian Lambertson made an equipment for the military. It was used during war and was
codenamed SCUBA. His apparatus also failed when divers went too deep and they died from the
wrong gas mixture. In 1943, Emile Gagnan and Jacques Cousteau invented a regulator which
automatically changed the air pressure in the scuba suit. This made way for the modern diving suit
as when the regulator was connected to these two metal cylinders, much like the apparatus that we
see today.

A scuba diver primarily moves underwater by using fins attached to his feet, where external
propulsion is supported by a diver propulsion vehicle, or sled pulled from surface. Other apparatus
includes a mask for better underwater vision, exposure protection, equipment to control the
buoyancy, and equipments related to the specific circumstances and purpose of the dive that are
essential.
