Crochet Teddy Bear

Materials:  
- Sirdar Smudge (100% Polyester, 100g (3.5oz), Super Chunky) 
- a​ little bit of red yarn for the scarf and black yarn for the eyebrows 

- 4 mm hook 
- 9 mm safety eyes 
- plastic nose 
- 2 white coloured felt circles for the eyes 
- a little bit of red felt for the heart 
- polyester fiberfill for stuffing 
- tapestry needle 
- stitch makers 

 
Notes:  
- Work in continuous rounds, do not join or turn unless noted 
- Start with an adjustable ring (“Magic Ring”) 
- Use stitch markers to indicate the beginning of each row 
- You can use any yarn of the same thickness 
- It's important you select the right hook; try to use another hook size if there are 
holes between stitches

Legs: 
With brown yarn. Stuff as you go. We start with the first leg. 

 
 
Round 1: ​Sc 6 in magic ring {6} 
Round 2: ​Inc x 6 {12} 
Round 3-5:​ Sc around {12}  
Fasten off. Make the 2nd leg using the same pattern. Do not fasten off, as we will use this yarn.

Body-Head: 
Stuff as you go. 
Round 6: ​In this round, we will connect the legs in a circle, ending with 30 sts in total. With 
the 2nd leg on your hook Ch 4 and connect with the 1st leg with a Sl st. Now Sc around the 
1 st leg and work 1 Sc in each ch along the ch 4 (opposite side of the chain). Count to make 
sure you have 30 sts in total. 

Round 7​: [Inc, sc 4] x 6 {36} 

Round 8:​ [Inc, sc 5] x 6 {42} 
Round 9-15:​ Sc around {42} 
Round 16:​ [Dec, sc 5] x 6 {36} 
Round 17:​ Sc around {36} 
Round 18: ​[Dec, sc 4] x 6 {30} 
Round 19:​ [Dec, sc 3] x 6 {24} 
Round 20: ​[Dec, sc 2] x 6 {18} 
Round 21: ​[Dec, sc 1] x 6 {12} 
Stuff firmly. Do not fasten off. We will now continue crocheting the head.

Round 22: ​[Inc, sc 1] x 6 {18} 
Round 23: ​[Inc, sc 2] x 6 {24} 
Round 24: ​[Inc, sc 3] x 6 {30} 
Round 25​: [Inc, sc 4] x 6 {36} 
Round 26:​ [Inc, sc 5] x 6 {42} 
Round 27:​ [Inc, sc 6] x 6 {48} 
Put plastic nose between rounds 27 and 28. You might also choose to embroider the nose later. 
Rounds 28-30:​ Sc around {48} 
Attach safety eyes and a little bit of white felt approximately between rounds 29 and 30. You can 
put eyes while crocheting or glue them after the toy is finished.

With brown yarn. Stuff slightly. 
Round 1: ​Sc 6 in magic ring {6} 
Round 2: ​Inc x 6 {12} 
Rounds 3-4: ​Sc around {12} 
Round 5: ​[Dec, sc 2] x 3 {9} 
Rounds 6-9: ​Sc around {9} 
 

 
Fold in half and crochet through both layers. Fasten off. Leave a long tail for sewing.

Do not stuff.

Fold in half and crochet through both layers. Fasten off. Leave a long tail for sewing. 

 
Tail: 
Stuff firmly.  
Round 1: ​Sc 6 in magic ring {6}

Rounds 3:​ Sc around {12} 
Fasten off. Leave a long tail for sewing. 

 
Scarf: 
With red yarn. Do not stuff.. 
Round 1​: Ch 71 
Round 2​: Dc 70 from the second chain

Finishing: 
 

1. With yarn tail and needle, sew all parts together; 

2. With black yarn embroider nose if you choose this option instead of using the plastic 
nose; 
3. Embroider eyebrows; 
4. Make a little heart with red felt and glue it to the body.
