CROCHET PUMPKIN

ABBREVIATIONS:
mr, sc n = magic ring (UK=magic ring) –
crochet n single crochet stitches into
the adjustable loop.
st/sts = stitch/stitches
Cs = chain stitch (UK=chain)
sl st = slip stitch (UK=slip stitch)
sc = single crochet stitch (UK=double crochet)
inc = increase = 2 sc in one st
dec = decrease = two sc together
(sc 4, inc) x n = repeat the pattern between
parentheses n times
[n] = the number of stitches in the round

SIZE: 0.98 (2 cm) height and 1.77 inches (4,5 cm) wide
SUPPLIES:
- 1.75 mm crochet hook;
- yarn: Yarnart Jeans green color 69, orange color 70.
- Scissors, stitch marker or scrap piece of yarn;
- soft stuffing;
- yarn needle.

TIP! You can use the same pattern to make larger or smaller toys by using finer or bulkier yarn. Also
you can use a different color yarn. Pick a crochet hook at least a size smaller than suggested on yarn
label and crochet tightly enough to achieve a tight gauge that will not allow the stuffing to show
through the fabric.

PUMPKIN Use orange color yarn
Round 1: mr, sc 6 = [6]
Round 2: inc x 6 = [12]
Round 3: (sc 1, inc) x 6 = [18]
Round 4: (sc 2, inc) x 6 = [24]
Round 5: (sc 3, inc) x 6 = [30]
Round 6-11(6 rounds): sc in each st around = [30]
Round 12: (sc 3, dec) x 6 = [24]
Round 13: (sc 2, dec) x 6 = [18] Stuff tightly.
Round 14: (sc 1, dec) x 6 = [12]
Round 15: dec 6 = [6]
Cut off the yarn leaving a long yarn tail (about 30 inches(80 cm)) for fasten off and create ribbing
for the pumpkin.

RIBBING
Create approx 7-8 sections of the ribbing for the pumpkin to give it its shape.
To do this take the long end of the tail from the bottom of the pumpkin after you fasten off and
attach to a sewing needle, pass through the centre of the magicring start and through the centre
of the pumpkin and back through the bottom centre, pull yarn to tighten.

STEM WITH A TENDRIL Use green color yarn


Row 1: Chain 7 , turn back with sc 6 starting from the second
chain from the hook, Chain 12, turn back with sl st 11 starting
from the second chain from the hook. Twist the tendril slightly.
Cut off the yarn leaving a long yarn tail for sewing and fasten off.

LEAF Use green color yarn


Cs 5(start crocheting from the 3rd chain from the hook)
Sc 2, sl st, Cs and sl st(in the same chain), continue crochet on the other side
of the beginning of the chain sc 2, Cs 2, sl st.
Cut the yarn leaving a long yarn tail for sewing and fasten off

Sew the stem with the tendril to the pumpkin.
