so much!

Materials:
-J/6.0mm crochet hook (notes for other sizes below)
-Approximately 210 yards of your favorite worsted weight yarn
-Yarn Needle
-Scissors
-Measuring tape
Key:
-SC: Single crochet
-Sl st: Slip stitch
-PS: Puff stitch (directions on this stitch are noted below)
-Ch: Chain

Notes:
PLEASE feel free to play with this pattern to create something new
and fun! This is an easy pattern but the puff stitch is something that you
may need to practice a few times to get the hang of. If the puff stitch is
something you can’t quite understand through written form, please check
out my video tutorial on YouTube! (https://www.youtube.com/watch?
v=cib1B2Ml1aw) Please feel free to email me with any questions you may
have!

PUFF STITCH:
-After creating your single crochets, yarn over (YO), insert hook into
next space. Pull yarn back through the space, creating THREE loops on
your hook. YO again, insert into same space, pull yarn back through,
creating FIVE loops on your hook. Repeat this process two more times (for
a total of four) and it should leave you with NINE loops on your hook. YO,
pull through EIGHT of the loops currently on your hook which will leave
you with TWO loops on your hook. YO one last time, pull through last two
loops on your hook and now you have completed your puff stitch!
Congrats!! Feel free to practice this as many times as you need to feel
comfortable with it before continuing on with the pattern. You can do it! I
promise!

CHUNKY YARN EDITS:

-If you choose to use a chunky/bulky yarn instead of the worsted
weight, you’ll want to do an initial chain of 7, instead of 11. I also prefer to
use a N/10mm crochet hook with the bulky yarns. Lastly, for the puff
stitches, I instruct to complete them with a total of nine loops on your
hook before completing the stitch. For bulky yarns, I would recommend
only having seven loops on your hook before completing the stitch. This
allows your stitch to be more flexible and less stiff.
ADDITIONAL SIZES:

PUFF STITCH SLOUCHY BEANIE

1) CH 11. SC into second CH from hook and across. CH 1, turn. (10)

2) SC into front loop of previous SC and do this to each SC across. CH 1,
turn. (10)
3) Continue previous step until your band reaches 20”, or desired length.
4) Sl st the last row to the first row (chains) to create the band. Flip inside
out so the sl st’s are on the inside of the band.
5) CH 1. SC into each row around the beanie. The number of SC will vary
depending on your yarn thickness, hook size, how tight or loose you
naturally work your stitches.. But try to keep them taut and even
throughout. After going around the band, sl st to first SC created.
6) CH 1 (I know technically pattern writers have you CH 2 or 3 with a puff
stitch and feel free to do that if it works better for you, but I like the
single CH to create a more “invisible” seam). PS into same space where
you sl st. CH 1. Skip one SC then PS into second SC. CH 1. Continue this
pattern around the band and sl st into the space between the CH 1 and
first PS you created this round.
7) CH 1. PS into the space between previous PS’s, NOT into the actual CH
itself. Think about wrapping the PS around that CH, instead of through
it. Continue this round until your work reaches 10.5-11” from top of hat
to bottom of band. Feel free to play with lengths to create more
slouchy or more fitted. Make it your own!
8) To close hat: CH 1, lay flat so your CH you just created is in the center
of your work. Insert hook through the space between PS and through
the other side of the hat, sl st, which will close it in the center. Bring
outside “corners” of the hat to the center and sl st them closed, around
your previous sl st. Repeat this step to the four “corners” you just
created, making 8 “corners”. Sl st each corner individually to the center
of your hat. Now the top of your hat should be evenly closed and you
can now finish off!
9) Knot and weave in your ends and VOILA! You now have your very own
puff stitch slouchy beanie! See! I told you that you could do it!

Now feel free to take a picture and post it on Instagram with hashtag
#thnbeanie and tag me in it so I can see!

Thank you again for being so awesome and supporting me and my family. I
appreciate you!
