Sugar & Spice Hat & Bag Set Pattern

Easy to make, flattering to wear ideal for summer costumes. The ready-made Basket Bag Bottom adds style and
shortens time-to-make.
MATERIALS REQUIRED:
DRITZ Luxury Belastraw Art. 110, 1 each for Bag and Calot

DRITZ Basket Bag Bottom No. 264

DRITZ Metal Crochet Hook No. 2
Lining material
GAUGE: 6 sc = 1"
BAG
* Insert hook through straw basket down from next point and make 3 sc in point, 4 sc in next point. Repeat from * around having
a multiple of 7 sts around. Join with sl st in 1st sc.
1st rnd: Ch 1, sc in same place as sl st, sc in 2 sc, * skip next sc, 5 dc in next, skip next sc, sc in 4 sc. Repeat from * around
ending with sc in last sc. Mark last st of every rnd. Hereafter work in the back loop only of each st.
2nd rnd: * Skip 2 sc, sc in sc, sc in 2 dc, 5 sc in next dc, sc in 2 dc, sc in sc. Repeat from * around.
3rd rnd: Skip 1 sc, * sc in 4 sc, 3 sc in next, sc in 4 sc, skip 2 sc. Repeat from * around ending with sc in 4 sc.
4th rnd: * Skip 2 sc, sc in 4 sc, 3 sc in next sc, sc in 4 sc. Repeat from * around.
5th to 13th rnds incl: Repeat 4th rnd.
BEADING: Sc in each sc to center st of next point, * sc in point, ch 6. Repeat from * around. Join. Ch 1, turn.
EDGING: Working in each sc and in each ch st repeat 1st rnd. Then repeat 2nd, 3rd and 4th rnds. Work sl st loosely in each sc.
Join and end off. Line with lining material.
DRAWSTRING (make 2): Cut four 2-yd. strands of Belastraw. Follow directions for Twisted Cord on patternbook page.
CALOT

Starting at open crown ch 56. Join with sl st to form ring.

1st and 2nd rnds:Work same as 1st and 2nd rnds of Bag.
3rd rnd: Skip 1 sc, * sc in 4 sc, 5 sc in next, sc in 4 sc, skip 2 sc. Repeat from * around ending with sc in 4 sc.
4th rnd: * Skip 2 sc between points, sc in each sc to center sc of point, 5 sc in point, sc in each sc to the 2 center sc between
points, Repeat from * around.
5th and 6th rnds: Repeat 4th rnd.
7th to 12th rnds incl: * Skip 2 sc, sc in 8 sc, 3 sc in point, sc in 8 sc. Repeat from * around.
13th and 14th rnds: * Skip 2 sc, sc in each sc to the 2 center sc between next 2 points. Repeat from * around.
15th rnd: Sc in each sc around. Ch 1, turn and work sl st loosely in each sc. Join and end off.
TOP PIECE: With wrong side facing attach yarn in 1st st of starting chain on open crown, ch 1, * 2 sc in each ch around. Join with
sl st in the back loop of 1st sc (112 sc).
1st to 4th rnds incl: Work same as 1st to 4th rnds incl of Bag. End off.
