In an article by the New York Times Magazine, “The Top 25 Songs That Matter

Right Now”, Willy Staley’s own segment “The New Face of Gangsta Rap Broadcasts

His Crimes and Winds Up In Handcuffs.” reflects over the quick rise and fall of rapper

6ix9ine and his song “STOOPID”. The visual and lyrical elements of bandanas, drinking,

and guns didn’t surprise Mr. Staley, it was rather the appearance of the rapper 6ix9ine

himself. His plentiful amount of tattoos including the number “69” placed above his left

eye tagged along with his rainbow hair is what surprised Staley the most.

Eventually, 6ix9ine pleaded guilty to the use of a minor in a sexual performance

and his career begun its downward spiral. While the rise and fall of 6ix9ine came

quickly, mainly because of his involvement with the gang “Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods”

and his criminal acts, he is working with prosecutors against his co-defendants to

possibly get a reduced sentence. 6ix9ine may be gone for now, but Willy Staley

believes that not only his colorful hair and tattoos will keep him from disappearing into

the shadows.
