Innovative Solutions Case Study

Directions: The goal of this case study is to help you grasp the difference between a solution
that is simply creative and one that is innovative and cutting edge. You may choose any product
like an iPhone, features of a car….you and your group decide.

 You will ask questions (and may need to research) about the qualities of the product
that your case study object replaced. Why did developers and designers feel the need to
improve it?
 What pushed its innovation? What made it innovative rather than just creatively re-
thought?
 Who were the stakeholders throughout the process?
 What processes do you think were involved in crafting this new product?
 What is it that made the new product successful in the market place and how did the
company market its new features?
 How might the current product be improved?
 Do you see a continuous cycle of innovation for products like yours? What will continue
to drive the process of innovation?
Create a poster, PowerPoint or Prezi showcasing your product, its predecessor(s) and
addressing the questions above. Be prepared to present your case study to the class.
