NTI Assignment for Career and Technical Education Classes
In order to give students freedom and choice in your activities during NTI days, your CTE teachers have created an NTI activity grid!
Whenever an NTI day is called, you should choose one of the assignments below to complete. The next time an NTI day is called,
you may choose another BUT it must be different than the assignment you chose on NTI Day 1. When you complete your assignment,
be sure to include the number of the assignment you chose. See below for more specific guidelines for NTI requirements.
1. Locate information on a company that includes
diversity awareness in their orientation for new
employees. Type a two paragraph response
explaining the company’s efforts, the importance
of these efforts, and suggest additional strategies
they may use to build/bridge cultural gaps. (EE5)
4. Research the professional behavior of giving
and accepting constructive criticism on the job.
Then create a comic strip or detailed scenario
involving at least two characters demonstrating
their ability to give and receive constructive
criticism while working. (EL6)
7. You are to search the internet and read about
ethical dilemmas that have happened to either a
local business or national business. When you
find one that really catches your interest, research
the situation and gather data to answer the
following questions:
1. What are the facts?
2. Identify and define the ethical problem.
3. Who are the stakeholders?
4. Create a scenario where this dilemma turns out
better, avoiding or stopping the dilemma.
5. Compare how the dilemma was resolved with a
situation you have been a part of.
6. Critique the outcomes from this ethical
dilemma?
7. Is there any way to prove something could have
been done to either avoid the situation or make it
better? Why?
8. How would you have resolved the dilemma?

a family member or friend about
their ability to work with minimal
supervision and stay on task to
produce high quality deliverables.

8. Read the attached article about
why OSHA is important. Imagine
you own a company and need to
inform employees about why
safety is important and how to
keep themselves safe. Create a
pamphlet or handout about how
they can keep themselves safe at
your workplace.

6. A restaurant’s waiter made a
mistake, delivering incorrect food
items the customer requested.
Customer was not happy with a
verbal “I’m sorry” from employee.
Describe three ways the business can
provide special customer
service/benefits to save a valued
patron. Should the supervisor be
involved? If yes, how? Why?
9. Create a how to
pamphlet/instruction manual for a
friend who is applying for a job and
preparing for a job interview.
Include tips for completing a job
application, writing a resume, the
purpose of the cover letter/letter of
application and the best ways to

Self-Assessment Checklist:
Before you submit your choice assignment, ensure that you have done the following:
❏ Used correct grammar and sentence structure
❏ Completed all parts of the prompt and/or question
NTI Day Expectations:
1. Your teacher will be available from 10am -1pm and then again from 4pm – 7pm.
2. Questions about assignments should be emailed to your teacher.
3. Assignments are due THREE instructional days following the NTI day (if NTI day is on a MONDAY all NTI assignments
will be due on THURSDAY).
4. You must include what assignment you are completing on the assignment.
5. Assignments may be submitted on paper or digitally.
