First and foremost we would like to give our deepest

gratitude to our Almighty God Jesus Christ for the wisdom,
knowledge and good health He has given us in performing this
Research. We also like to thank our parents for their financial
support and guidance in building our innovation.

We would also like to thank our teachers who helped us,

especially our teacher in Research, Mrs Ma. Fe Chang for the
knowledge about this innovation she have shared us and for the
guidance when performing the activity.

We would also like to extend our gratitude to our friends

who shared some ideas for the innovation and for letting borrow
some things needed, to the hardware where we bought some of the
things needed for our innovation.
Chapter 1: Introduction

Throughout the years we humans always try to invent

something that are handy, instant and eco-friendly that will help

us make our day easy and light on a daily basis and also in

unexpected situations such as emergencies and survival.

There may be situations that we least expect to happen.

These kind of emergencies are alarming and in need for solution.

That is why we tried to think of an innovation that can solve

this kind of problem with “one thing” that we can expand its

purpose. Thinking of a tumbler, a flat-bottomed beverage

container usually made of plastic or glass, we commonly use

tumbler in our everyday life, and we bring our own tumbler in

school, work and places we go to so it makes the tumbler handy,

upon expanding its purpose we come up to intact a flashlight,

attached a medicine kit and to place a whistle.

This Innovation will be significant for it can help

everyone, mainly because it will be designed as a survival kit

and everybody wants to survive in this world where calamities and

natural disasters are worsened because of our own wrong doings.

 Regarding this innovation, it will be really handy that it

will occupy a little space and can save some for other important

things to carry. You can just place it at the side pocket of your

backpack or put it inside the bag. Most importantly it can be the

solution to lessen the number of deaths and can raise the

percentage of survival. For it will function as a temporary life

support while waiting for the rescue.

This innovation we would like to call “Tumbler: A Portable

Survival Kit” a multifunction tumbler that have different

features that can lighten everyday life and also help in such

situation
Statement of the Problem

This research aims to innovate a simple tumbler, converting it

into a multi-purpose one. However, this study seeks answer to the

following sub-questions.

1. How can the "Tumbler: A portable survival kit" help those

people that are in survival?

2. How can the product help the environment?

3. What can be the essential work of this tumbler?

Background of the study

Tumbler: A Portable Survival Kit, an eco-friendly innovation

and a package of basic tools and supplies prepared in advance as

an aid to survival in an emergency.

Military and civil aircraft, spacecraft and lifeboats are

equipped with survival kits. Civilians such as forestry workers,

surveyors, or bush pilots, who work in remote locations or in

regions with extreme climate conditions may also be equipped with

survival kits. The government holds simulation exercises to equip

civilians during an emergency. Fire drills, earthquake drills,

first aid treatment are all being practiced to promote life-

saving responses and survival. Part of the preparation is being

equipped with “emergency essentials” – the supplies you need when

you have to evacuate or when you need to stay home for longer

time with no electricity.

So this kit includes a flashlight, small medicine kit and a

whistle. In addition this kit is wearable, meet basic health and

first aid needs and built into everyday carry. Lightweight kits
are generally seen as a back-up means of survival; however, this

kit can be extensive, and have come to include tools that are

generally found in larger kits as survival technology advances,

and some of the examples are the flashlight and signal devices.
Hypothesis

It is hypothesized that the Tumbler: A portable survival

kit, will function as a temporary life support in kinds of

situation that needs survival such as stuck in the woods, in need

to drink you medical prescriptions, lost in the dark or just even

in your everyday life, this product come in handy for it size

just as your ordinary tumbler.

The tumbler can help the environment to lessen the plastic

use for our environment is facing a lot of problems in the

plastics that aren’t thrown properly because it is reusable.

Significance of the Study

This study is significant to the following:

 To everyone, we believe that everybody needs this innovation

for it is a must have item and is a handy portable survival

kit.

 To the people who has maintenance, if you need to take

medicine regularly this innovation is for you for it

contains medicine kit for your medicines and because it is a

tumbler it has water to drink for your meds.

 To the future researchers, our study will be available and

may be a related literature for them to use. Our consent is

of course a must.

 To the students, students spend their most of the time away

from home. And their safety is the top priority so this

tumbler is a big help to them in case of emergency.

Scope and limitations

This innovation forms only a Tumbler that is also a portable

survival kit that can also be used during survival situation.

 This tumbler only has a water capacity of 500 ml

 You can only store 10-15 capsules or tablets of various

medicines on this tumbler’s compartment

 The flashlight of this tumbler is powered by battery, so it

will only last until the batteries are drained

Definition of Terms

1. Tumbler - A tumbler is a flat-bottomed beverage container

usually made of plastic or glass.

2. Kit - a set or collection of tools, supplies, instructional

matter, etc., for a specific purpose.

3. Portable - capable of being transported or conveyed.

4. Survival - the act or fact of surviving, especially under

adverse or unusual circumstances; a person or thing that

survives or endures, especially an ancient custom,

observance, belief, or the like.

5. Disaster - a calamitous event, especially one occurring

suddenly and causing great loss of life, damage, or

hardship, as a flood, airplane crash, or business failure.

6. Medicine - any substance or substances used in treating

disease or illness; medicament; remedy.

7. First Aid - is the first and immediate assistance given to

any person suffering from either a minor or serious illness

or injury, with care provided to preserve life, prevent the

condition from worsening, or to promote recovery.

8. Flashlight - A flashlight (more often called a torch outside

North America) is a portable hand-held electric light. The

source of the light is usually an incandescent light bulb

(lamp) or light-emitting diode (LED).

9. Filter/Strainer - a device for separating wanted elements

from unwanted material or for characterizing the particle

size distribution of a sample, typically using a woven

screen such as a mesh or net or metal.
