General objective:

To determine the antioxidant activity and brine shrimp lethality of chitosan from Tilapia
(Oreochromis niloticus) fish scales.

Specific objectives:

1. To determine the dose-dependent and time-dependent %DPPH scavenging activity of 2000ppm,

1000ppm, 100ppm, and 10ppm chitosan from Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) fish scales after 30
minutes and after 60 minutes.

2. To determine the significant difference in the dose-dependent and time-dependent %DPPH

scavenging activity of 2000ppm, 1000ppm, 100ppm, and 10ppm chitosan from Tilapia (Oreochromis
niloticus) fish scales exposed for 30 minutes, 60 minutes, and 90 minutes.

3. To determine the DPPH IC50 of chitosan from Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) fish scales.

4. To determine the dose-dependent and time-dependent % mortality of brine shrimp exposed in

2000ppm, 1000ppm, 100ppm, and 10ppm chitosan from Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) fish scales after
6 hours, 12 hours, 18 hours, and 24 hours.

5. To determine the significant difference in the dose-dependent and time-dependent % mortality

of brine shrimp exposed in 2000ppm, 1000ppm, 100ppm, and 10ppm chitosan from Tilapia
(Oreochromis niloticus) fish scales.

6. To determine the brine shrimp LC50 of chitosan from Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) fish scales

Hypotheses:

1. There is no significant difference in the dose-dependent and time-dependent %DPPH scavenging

activity of 2000ppm, 1000ppm, 100ppm, and 10ppm chitosan from tilapia fish scales after 30 minutes
and after 60 minutes

2. There is no significant difference in the dose-dependent and time-dependent %DPPH scavenging

activity of 2000ppm, 1000ppm, 100ppm, and 10ppm chitosan from tilapia fish scales after 6 hours, 12
hours, 18 hours, and 24 hours
