The first thing you would probably notice from the poster of the movie “Hannibal” is the

eerie atmosphere it creates depicted from the highly contrasting colors. The utilization of a dark
shadow brings out and highlights the face of a character, specifically his eye, catches the
attention of any viewer. An appropriate color palette was also used to suggest the genre of this
movie to be chilling and bloodcurdling. Another aspect that was emphasized is of course the title
of the movie wherein the word Hannibal is enlarged to stress its relevance. In addition, the font
used is appropriate to inform the audience that this movie is not at all a comedy as seen from its
more formal type of font. As for the proximity of the texts, most of the entries are quite far apart
make more empty spaces signifying the mystery behind the film, except for the credits which are
usually tightly grouped together. Meanwhile, the alignment of the texts is positioned on the left
side of the poster where the shadow of the character is, again, emphasizing the facial features of
the character. On the other hand, the title, credits, and names of actor are on a center alignment at
the bottom and top of the poster to balance and focus the texts which consequently creates an
organization of texts surrounding the subject. Lastly, all the colors of the texts are on the lighter
and warmer side of the spectrum to contrast with the dark background. To summarize, all
elements and design principles used in this movie poster worked very well together,
incorporating all necessary aspects, to create a visual aid that would be enticing and significant
for the audience.
